Bought this last Saturday at a record fair and the quality is pretty good. I was just wondering if anyone has more info about the source of the video. link |
Tero 24.09.2007 03:50 |
This concert has been exclusive to the Japanese market for twenty years now, and as far as I know, any other dvd version available around the world besides this one link is an unlicensed pirate copy made from the official Japanese "We Are the Champions - Final Live in Japan" release. |

Same old shit with same shity keyboards above the guitars. |
pittrek 24.09.2007 06:04 |
Is the masterplan DVD OFFICIAL ? I've bought it, but it looks like a cheap bootleg to me |

So that's why i wasn't sure about how " official" this release is or was. |

You get Masterplan DVD's in nearly all record shops in Germany (mostly at "big" ones like Saturn, Media Markt..) I bought a few so far, but they are all disapointing. "Black Sabbath" Live in Paris'70 looks horrible, like a very high gen VHS with distorted picture, "Nirvana" Live at Reeding is incomplete and with annoying song titles on screen through the whole concert and "Aerosmith" Texas Jam'78 comes with a horrible stereo mix; the right channel is loud as hell while the left is hardly heard..plus, they have their "logo" through the concerts on top left of the screen, which is annoying to. All their (unofficial) releases are available at trading sites, often in much better quality. Don't waste your Money on this crap... |

I just bought the Masterplan DVD of Queen Live in Japan 1985 and was very impressed. If you set aside the fact that the drums and keyboards are, to say the very least, annoying, you have yourself a quality Queen rock concert. I might actually prefer this concert to their Wembley performance in 86', it's just that good to my eyes and ears. As for Freddie's vocals? Oh well, you win some and you lose some. Give the guy a break. By the way, I bought my copy at an FYE store. It was the last one! |

Brought my copy from Amazon.co.uk (follow the link) for 4 quid. It now costs around 6 quid, well worth the "small" investment in my opinion. link |

Isn't the Masterplan (MP) logo continous on the screen throughout the video? |
Bobby_brown 24.09.2007 18:42 |
How can this guys from Masterplan be on the major retailers around the world selling bootleg DVD´s from Queen, and QueenProductions not doing anything against it? Take care |

Take careI'd assume it's a mixture of shops wanting to sell more products no matter how dodgy they are, EMI ignoring them because there is never going to be an official release, and Queen letting it happen just to spite the Japanese company who doesn't want to let go of the exclusive release. |
Dubroc 30.09.2007 08:29 |
I have the Masterplan DVD Queen Live In Japan nr. MP 42070. The quality isn't bad but what do you expect for that kind of money... On the backside is says : licensed by Queen Film Ltd. Licensed my @ss... Don't believe it. The MP logo is on the screen the whole time. I also got Live In Rio by Masterplan. Nr. 42078 It also reads : Licensed by Queen Film Ltd. Copyrights by EMI Globo Brazil. Shouldn't it be Queen Films ltd. with the S? |
Tero 30.09.2007 09:04 |
Who knows? Maybe they've actually paid for the licenses of these releases to a "Queen Film ltd". Most probably a company owned by themselves. :P |
Hutchence 17.11.2007 08:26 |
Dubroc, could you please tell me what's the quality of Rio DVD. I'm planing to buy it thru amazon.co.uk and would like to hear your opinion. Tnx very much. |
Dubroc 20.11.2007 18:55 |
It is in video quality. Nice to have. I paid 8 euro for it. And yes, the MP logo is on the screen all the time. |
Tero 21.11.2007 05:29 |
So why not invest the full 30 euro to get the official Japanese release, in better picture quality, and without any MP logos? |
pittrek 21.11.2007 06:55 |
Was this released officially on DVD ? |
Tero 21.11.2007 07:19 |
pittrek wrote: Was this released officially on DVD ?Yes, in Japan as "We Are The Champions - Final Live In Japan". (Thanks to whoever it was here at QZ who showed me this a couple of years ago!) link Issued by Queen's Japanese record label, no Masterplan logos on the video, and the correct spelling of Queen Films Ltd. on the back of the dvd case. ;) |

pittrek wrote: Was this released officially on DVD ?If you´re talking about the Japan concert, then the answer is YES. It was released only in Japan. If you´re talking about Rio the answer is NO. Take care P.S- while i´m answering you, i´ve just reminded that if this was against Queen wishes, then QP must have denied access to the multitrack for the 5.1 surround. Am i right? Because if this is true, then this DVD has not the best qualitty possible. I´m just guessing here! |
