I just noticed on Brian May Central that Mr Stuart (I assume it's the same one) owns BHM0081 vintage red Burns model.
Well guess what, I have BHM0080 vintage red
I haven't checked the serial number of my car, but wouldn't that be spooky!
You are correct Mr. Togg - I do indeed own the said guitar, and I am really proud to show it off in it's bona-fide 'Brian May' case also.
The problem is that mine is an ornament, and I really wish I could play it.
I CAN strum - 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' - but it's the wrong bl**dy guitar for that!
However, I really, really wish I could play 'Love Of My Life' - so I hope you get better use from yours - than I do mine.
PS: I actually took mine into my local workshop whereby they made me a new modified (pre-bridge) black plastic scratchplate.
They also cut out a 'plug' at the top end of the tuning pegs - and glued and inserted a genuine 'Brian May' 5p coin.
They then polished the complete 'new guitar' and all this cost me less than £20 - but it really looks the dogs b*ll*cks!
So good luck - and keep practicing!

A 5p coin??? I have you mean a sixpence John, otherwise you've arsed up your guitar!!! (Which respectfully in my opinion you have done anyway as only the original bears a coin and none of the copies, even Brian's Guytons or Fryers etc..)
I have the BHM 00648 wich is from the first series of the Burns copies. But i did hold the REAL "fire place" 3 times for real. (first time in Holland, september 1992, second time in Holland on stage with ALL his guitars in May 1993, and at the convention where he had Pete Malandrone bringing in the one and only real "red special". THAT was more special than having any copy from any other guitar-trademark.... in my humble opinion....

You have to remember that a 6d is a very old coin, so I guess it is easier to identify the genuine Brian May coins with the more recent 5p piece - but you are correct - I did mean the same thing.
As for ars*ng it up - I did that as soon as I modified it - but please bear in mind two points.
First - it is still the dogs b*ll*cks - and looks absolutely stunning.
Second - it is uneque - as it now looks different from any other run of the mill Burns!

Am guilty of same X 2. My first one came with a sixpence, minted in 1948, (thanks Jim Chen in San Francisco) and I've thought about having it affixed to the headstock, but didn't know who I should ask to do it properly. Cheers for the tip JSS . . . there's a well-respected guitar workshop not too far from me who could probaby do it.
I've had them for a few years, and admit to being taken aback a bit when I open the case. It's a stunning design.
As you say John, it is a still a stunning piece of work, and alas I have only seen them in the shop - probably just a bit of subconcious envy on my part until I can afford to get one! :)

Someday you will - and even afford the guitar lessons to go with it!
It's all faith obi-wan, it's all faith!

Cool, interesting side note, mine came without the Burns logo on the headstock, just the Brian May sig which is nice, I too have glued a sixpence, and I recently bought the 'c' shape scratch plate for behine the trem and fitted it.
As for use, well yes it does get used a lot, I play drums in a band and on occassion am allowed out front with a guitar! however I use it the most in the studio fro recording or just plain messing about! great guitar, I have several others from Les Pauls, to Strats/teles and the odd Ricky, but this is my fav.
Mine says BHM4445 on the back of the neck.
Shucks :/ I was kinda hoping for something lower!
As I'd basically go homeless before selling this guitar, the words "Resale value" hold very little meaning to me, so I redecorated the scratchplate with glossy white spraypaint so I could see the switches easier (on stage). link
The thought occurred to me to simply get another scratchplate, but it was quite a bit more expensive than the spray can....
And besides - it's a tiny bit of individuality that the guitar needed!
