Wouldn't it be great, to add a "touch of Freddie" in the persona of Mika to the recordings they now have? Without someone whos approach towards music is as identical as Freddies, i think it bring an extra spark of energy and creativity to the old guys. Brian has his own sound, Roger has, and Paul has...but Mika has SO much in him now... the youth, the power, the incredible voice, the lightness, the energy...and maybe a very tiny little bit of happy gay-ness in the way the music comes out...i think it's worth a try? What do you guys think out there? |

Yeah but I think he'd feel tied down by having to compromise with others. Since he's a successful solo artist I doubt he'd want to give up the freedom. It would also lead to more Freddie comparisons which I think he's tired of. *waits for the Mika bashing* |

The problem here is that Mika is too hot right now for aging old fogeys like Brian May, Roger Taylor and Paul Whatever. Too bad that Freddie is not around though, since those two could have produced some interesting stuff. |

Well, guys... I don't think that some long-term cooperation between Mika and guys is possible. But a single or any other brief gig recorded together - why not ? Regarding Mika : he's absolutely all-sufficient,complete and gifted musician, undoubtedly. And when people compare him to Freddie - it's not about their voices, falsetto, poses or song writing. These comparisons are about the similar level of their TALENTS. (besides, isn't Mika just so cute :)) |

stop compare freddie with mika!! they have nothing in common. mika is a good musician, freddie is a legend, - i like them both, but they shouldn't be mixed. |

Mika is pure garbage, plain and simple. Who in their right mind would want to destroy more the Queen legacy in that way. At least Paul Rodgers fronted 2 classic rock bands and has a good voice yet not anything close or related to Freddie. Whomever wants Mika really really really needs their head examined. |

For those of you who persist in comparing this Mika fellow to Freddie Mercury, please, please take the time to really listen to some of Queen's music. Put some headphones on and, listen to Bo Rhap, or, Who Wants to Live Forever, or, Stone Cold Crazy... ...or, visit youtube, and, give this a listen" link Or, hell, even these simple classics: link Though I believe Mr Mika is not without talent, and, most certainly seems to emulate Freddie, there really is no comparing the two, and, it somehow seems almost offensive to do so. |
akindofmagic 17.09.2007 21:55 |
I would add MIKE MORAN to have a freddie touch, not Mika. Moran can play Keyboards, and co-compose lots of songs with Freddie, plus could give the "operatic" sound that we probably gonna miss on the new album. |

As said... i a, NOT comparing the two for vocals. What i DO compare, is that they have the same ideas about what music is all about. It should be entertainment, not too serious, and poppy, light, and make you feel happy, or even be able to set a mood. Both Mika and Freddie approach music with the same kind of lightness. Freddie once said: it;s disposable pop. You listen to a song, and then you drop it. You move on to the next. Mika's music has exactly the same humor, and if compared to songs like "Delilah", "Bicycle Race", Or even "The March Of The Black Queen" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" the words are so ingeniously chosen, as are Mika's... equally light-hearted, not serious... and seen in that perspective, i think it would be a jolly nice challenge to let him have a go at a few songs with Bri and Rog. Their last solo albums didn't sell very well. Happines (Rogers finest!) sold a lousy 547 copies in Holland, and we are supposed to be one of the biggest Queen-fan nations on earth...And from Brians last album, not even a thousand were sold. So...if you look at the 2 number 1 position songs that Mika now scored, and being a major act in the USA too...he would most certainly raise the level of 50% of Queen and P.R. to an absolute high, that i don't think they will acchieve with their coming album. I think it will be a 85% Brian thing, with Roger and P.R. merely assisting him. So... just for fun...i would vote Mika IN! Or are there voices saying Robby valentine should be given a chance to add some brilliant stuff now? Or Valensia? But who am i....right? |
