A few years ago, people had the intelligence not to share convention demos like this. Did you ever stop to think why it says "property of Queen Productions"? So, keep 'em coming... you're going to ruin it for everyone. ============================================= Jeroen wrote: Well, actually the consequences this time might even go further then that. Chances are that if Brian finds out that Kashoggy (which is by the way labelled as 'Party' in the archives!!) and Rain Must Fall specifically are in here, the person that plays the tracks on the conventions will not be hearing anything new anymore himself! (But then again, to some QZ'ers that must sound like music to their ears...) It actually indeed DOES keep the anthology sets further away from being released (if ever). See, 'hoarding' as people tend to call it, sometimes actually does serve a higher purpose. It's not that I don't grant people the pleasure of hearing these tracks - not at all. It's just that I happen to know that the leaking of these tracks might harm some persons and as consequence the entire Queen fanbase. (And the fact that these are 'just' the convention recordings and not the soundboards, does not make a difference.) |

Thanks, AP-Racing. PS- It's better to hear this stuff now then to just stand around with our thumbs up are asses waiting for an anthology set that most likely will never come out no matter what is leaked on the net, while QP thinks up another way to release Greatest Hits. |

Jeroen, Your story does not make any sense. QP will decide when or how they want to release the boxset ... and that does not depend on a few demos leaking on the internet being audience (!) recordings of QFC conventions... Indeed ,NOT, Jeroen, the actual QUALITY of the demos DOES make a difference! ... My 2 cents. |

I understand the pros and cons of bootlegging this stuff. But listen, about a year after Freddie died, Rog was on saying "oh mark my words, there'll be box sets! There's not much in there, mind, but release it, we will" etc etc (or words to that effect). Hurrah, Roger! We love you, and fully intend to swell your coffers! Yeah well, I was barely out of my teens when that little gem was uttered. I'm now rushing headlong, to coin a phrase, towards 40. Enough's enough. I'll take whatever musical nuggets are going whatever way I can get them. And I'll STILL buy the box sets. Such UTTER rubbish...ooooh protect the boxsets...ooooh better listen to Greg and QPL...fuck off. |

Do you realy think that if he is pissed off again about the leaking of certain tracks, that will make it easier to convince him to dig out his tapes and hand them over to QueenProductions? And also: if the man that should eventually put that box set together gets fired - does THAT make the release come any closer? Btw: did anybody notice that there is NO 'Property of QP' overdub on these two tracks? Does THAT make any difference to your view on the whole thing? Probably not. Sure you'll still think I'm full of shit. Fine. Let's ask Greg to respond in this topic. (Not that you or most other QZ'ers take his word seriously...) Or send Brian a message and let him know about this. I'm equally curious to read his response! |

QP is not willing to listen when talked to civilly. They have shown themselves for what they are: money grubbing bastards. They refuse to release anything new, for which they could have made up dozens of sensible excuses...were it not that they have no problem whatsoever with releasing rehash upon rehash. So, if civil conversation doesn't work, try it the fucking hard way! |
pittrek 16.09.2007 06:41 |
This seems pretty illogical to me. When we share stuff which was NOT released we actually show to QP that we WANT to hear it. The logical result would be releasing the boxed set as soon as possible. But I guess we can't expect logic from Queen Productions |

Thank you AP-Racing. To anyone who has attended a Queen convention: I'd like to know, do they just play these rare songs once in the day/evening? The reason I ask is because each time I've heard a convention recording there are always a lot of people chatting away in the background which suggests that they're not actually concentrating on the song at all....If it were really so exclusive to convention-goers wouldn't there be a hushed silence so they could all hear the music? |

All the chatter? Well, that's just how retarded *ahem* sorry, 'without interest' a lot of Queenfans are. While others indeed want to listen to the songs they feel the need to get into the same room and keep on giggling. It's either that or Greg pays them to do so as to ruin all the bootlegrecordings. |

"No need to start yelling at me, dude!" It was a general "fuck off", and used neither capital letters or, funny enough, bold type. "I'm just telling in here what *I*'ve been told. I also intentionally did not pass any personal judgement ab out uploading these in my post. If you so strongly disagree with these words you should tell GB to fuck off." I have, several times. His patronising attitude, the manner in which he used to reply on this board, and so forth, really gave me, and a lot of others on this board, no other option. "He's telling me a whole lot more then anybody else? He probably is, then. But that's what happens if one decides to actually TALK to people when they are in the same room instead of writing dozens of pages on a website ranting about someone you've never met. (Wether those rants were deserved or not.)" Actually, ranting was pretty much all that was left, given the fact that civilised questioning on several occasions by several people yielded nothing except stroppiness and a brick wall. And I would never stretch to "dozens" of pages. I have better things to be getting on with. "It's obvious that Brian is not very convinced about releasing 'the goods'. Remember his previous rants on his website when tracks leaked? He was pissed off because he did not want the stuff to be heard. "They got shelved for a reason and putting stuff out there that the artist does not approve off is an ivasion of privacy" - words of that extent." I have no idea. I pretty much don't care either. But when a band member or archivist or whatever says "just *wait* til you see those box-sets", I don't really expect to wait until I'm pushing 40. The example I use is always The Who. Last original album released in 1982; one of the best anthologies ever released via 4CD box-set, including rare and unreleased material in 1993. Now, they managed it in just over a decade. Even Zeppelin managed to start churning out re-masters within 15 years of their last original release. And those were in the days before the box-set was a popular item. I just want to know what the problem is here. "It takes a lot to convince Brian to release this stuff. Still today, Brian has a large collection at home of tapes that we ALL want to hear. Stuff that is his PRIVATE property. Do you realy think that if he is pissed off again about the leaking of certain tracks, that will make it easier to convince him to dig out his tapes and hand them over to QueenProductions?" Well then, all I have to say to that is, stop fucking monkeying about with snippets at conventions and get on with the job in hand. Thomas Quinn wrote: "QP is not willing to listen when talked to civilly. They have shown themselves for what they are: money grubbing bastards. They refuse to release anything new, for which they could have made up dozens of sensible excuses...were it not that they have no problem whatsoever with releasing rehash upon rehash." Now, ten years ago, I would have thought such a thing unthinkable to write. However, my eyes have been opened to reality by those very rehashes of which Thomas writes. And if Brian doesn't want to release his musical babies out into the big wide world, that's fine. Really! I will lose NO sleep over it whatsoever. But just say so. Just say "no, look, this stuff is interesting and all, but really....I think I want to keep this for myself." You then wrote "Btw: did anybody notice that there is NO 'Property of QP' overdub on these two tracks? Does THAT make any difference to your view on the whole thing?" It really, really does not make any difference at all. If the archivist or whoever is willing to play these without the overdub, then why are some of us so appalled at them appearing here, the home of "things wot should not be uploaded" &q |
