Do you know how long the full Garden Lodge tape is? I have an exctract which is 26:13 minutes long... |
GT 09.09.2007 16:37 |
The original Garden Lodge tape was recorded on a 90 minute cassette and takes up the full tape on both sides. I was the first person to hear and record this tape, and over the years snippets have appeared, somehow, but never the whole thing. |

I have quite a few snippets but I would be interested in hearing the full tape. Any change you would like to trade it? I have loads of rare stuff available for trade. Please send me an email at: mrducksoup@hotmail.com I'm sure we can work something out! |

On the book of FM 2000 Box set you can read if i´m not wrong, that a part of that night was recorded on a 60' tape |

GT - funny because I was the one who transferred the full Garden Lodge tape to CD. |

The tape I have is indeed a 90 minute cassette and takes up both sides of the tape. The 'b side finishes one and a half minutes before the tape runs out, so it really is around 90 minutes and not 60 as is what was written in the 'FM Solo Collection' book. This could of been a mistake or maybe Peter Freestone didn't want the full 90 minute version heard. Mr Scully you may of been the one who transferred the tape to CD, but I recorded mine off the original cassette in 1996 at Peter's flat in London. |

Or are you saying that there are more people with the integrity of a mule and having no problem in betraying someones trust? |
Madman 10.09.2007 11:33 |
By the way - of course this full tape never will be availible for everyone ONLY for "some people" for soemthink rare :-( Bleeee, just nice (!) |
Mr. Scully 10.09.2007 11:49 |
GT - OK, that explains it. I don't remember how many tapes were there. 28.03.1987 = 71:37, 29.02.1988 = 52:39. Indeed, the Garden Lodge stuff leaked somewhere in Holland. It's a shame because Peter was blamed by QP for it. |
GT 10.09.2007 14:21 |
Yes thats right, there were these two as you mention above.....and also another tape of Freddie and Mike Moran on their own. By the way they were both recorded on the 29th, not the 28th as you say, just different years and months. |
Pim Derks 10.09.2007 14:35 |
Can we assume that certain Dutchman's name starts with a B? |
Mr. Scully 10.09.2007 15:02 |
GT - you're right, both come from 29th. |

Both tapes were accidentally erased with Sesame Street songs in the summer if '99. Tragic, really. |

At the risk of sounding totally stupid here... what exactly do you guys mean by a 'Garden Lodge tape'? I'm just curious. Thanks |
Pim Derks 17.09.2007 00:56 |
Lots of gay crap no-one would give a sh*t about if it weren't for one of the guys being Freddie Mercury. |
Freddies Delilah 17.09.2007 03:26 |
Um... charming. Can I have another explanation? |
Pim Derks 17.09.2007 03:34 |
I can't give a different description to three or four guys hysterically singing Que Sera Sera or "Fuck Off and Die You Fag". Sorry. |
bigV 17.09.2007 03:58 |
It's a home recording of Freddie, Peter Straker and someone else (I forget who) at Garden Lodge, playing the piano and singing. Interesting to listen to once, but I prefer the outtakes from Barcelona. V. |

All three tapes are of interest to Queen and especially Freddie fans in particular, as this was a very creative time in his life (1987 - 1988)especially so as he found someone he could work with who would play the piano, as Freddie worked more on the lyrics and ideas to potential songs. As for the 'Jokey' songs, this is of interest to hear Freddie at home and not in a studio, very relaxed and at ease with his friends around him. Something that had never been heard before. |

Question: since Peter Straker was mentioned here. Him being in the Mercury inner circle means that he was also gay? |
GT 25.03.2012 23:48 |
Many of Freddie's friends were gay, especially in his inner circle - Straker being one of them. |
tomchristie22 26.03.2012 03:36 |
That's gay |
