Has anyone ever noticed that Champagne Supernova by Oasis is similar to Octopus' Garden by The Beatles. Especially the lyrics
I long to be under the sea in a octopus' garden in the shade
Someday you will find me caught beneath the landslide in a champagne supernova in the sky
Whatever uses a similar chord progression to Octopus' Garden, which led to Noel singing the lyrics over the chords live.
Many people just dimiss Oasis as Beatles rip-offs, but their completely different. Yes, they did take elements of the Beatles and dropped many a Beatles reference in, but thats not the only band they borrowed off. For example -
Cigarettes & Alcohol = Get It On (T-Rex)?
Shakermaker = I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing?
I like Oasis (the first two or three albums and b-sides especially). Just don't like the "fans".

You can also add these
Stand By Me = All The Young Dudes (Mott The Hoople)
Dont Look Back In Anger = Imagine (John Lennon)
Maybe they wear their influences on their sleeves eh? Either that or they have a severe lack of talent... either way I dont care

So do people like Blur then? Yay Britpop?
I'm not a big fan of Blur, but 'Girls & Boys' and 'Song2' are some fine tunes. Of course, I could not forget about 'Coffee and TV', the music video is just awesome.
I loves me Damon.

Not really. It's good to see. I'm reading Alex James's autobiography. Good read. I like the inside goss. It's dirty, dirty.

Both brilliant. They both lost the way a bit though, but the Manics seem to be back on track. Not heard enough recent Radiohead to pass judgement on them.

They've just finished their new album. :)
