1978.12.03 Toronto - merge
| The Real Wizard 08.09.2007 01:33 |
Queen Toronto, ON, Canada Maple Leaf Gardens December 3, 1978 This is (hopefully) the definitive version of the first night in Toronto 1978, a mix of two versions of the same audience tape (both speed corrected). The majority of the show comes from the better quality version, while I filled in most of the gaps with the inferior one. My edits are as follows, always with cross-fades: -added tape to beginning of show -added tape after Somebody To Love -added tape after If You Can't Beat Them -added tape to beginning of Killer Queen -added tape to beginning of Get Down Make Love -added tape after Get Down Make Love -added tape after You're My Best Friend -added tape after Now I'm Here -added tape after Spread Your Wings -added tape to end of '39 -added tape to beginning of Keep Yourself Alive -added tape after KYA -added tape after BoRhap -added tape after TYMD -added tape after SHA The only remaining cuts are during Somebody To Love, Spread Your Wings, and Keep Yourself Alive (to a lesser extent). It seems the person recording the show used 90 minute tapes, which explains the cuts during SYW and KYA, but the STL cut is there perhaps because a security guard had come close by. You can hear the tape wheel turning in the left channel for the few minutes surrounding the first tape flip. I have also removed all of the little clicks from the recording. Thanks to Ginger for sending me a clean version of '39, as mine had those brutal digi-clicks! Lineage of better version: AUD > Master > 1st Gen Cassette > ? > CDR (x) > WAV > FLAC Frontend level 8 > WAV (GoldWave speed correction) > FLAC level 8 Lineage of inferior version: AUD > ? > Cassette > WAV > CDR (x) > FLAC Frontend level 8 > WAV (GoldWave speed correction) > FLAC level 8 This is a fantastic show, with the band in a very relaxed mood, as they were a couple days before in Montreal. Freddie is in a bit better voice, too. After a subtle applause following Let Me Entertain You, Freddie says, "You should've seen the audience in Montreal. They'll teach you a thing or two." Boos ensue! He continues, "Forget the security. This is your night!". Freddie delivers a great (and gutsy in places!) version of Dreamers Ball. The boys have a fantastic jam during Brighton Rock. Brian is horribly out of tune during his WWRY solo! Overall, it's an excellent show, and just as essential as the other great-sounding shows from the tour. Disc 1: 1. Intro 2. We Will Rock You (fast) 3. Let Me Entertain You 4. Somebody To Love [cut] 5. If You Can't Beat Them 6. Death On Two Legs 7. Killer Queen 8. Bicycle Race 9. I'm In Love With My Car 10. Get Down, Make Love 11. You're My Best Friend 12. Now I'm Here 13. Spread Your Wings [cut] 14. Dreamers Ball 15. Love Of My Life 16. '39 Disc 2: 1. It's Late 2. Brighton Rock 3. Fat Bottomed Girls 4. Keep Yourself Alive [cut] 5. Bohemian Rhapsody 6. Tie Your Mother Down 7. Sheer Heart Attack 8. We Will Rock You 9. We Are The Champions 10. As always with my shares (and preferably everybody else's!), be sure that this recording is not made available at Queenzone or elsewhere in mp3 or any other lossy format. Keep lossless files lossless, unless it's for your own use. :) Enjoy! |

I kinda like to hear some concerts more than once.... So if one says: 'same concert over and over and over and over and over and over again...' Maybe it's just an expression of saying that one really likes the concert....! Like it's SOOOO good...I keep playing it....! My CD (or whatever player) just won't let it go...! |

His problem is, that it's not in mp3. |

L-R-TIGER1994 wrote: Same concerts over and over and over and over and over and over again.....Of course, I forgot... your incomplete 128 kbps mp3 version of the Toronto show is surely better than this one. Obviously this is your pro-mp3 attitude manifesting itself in yet another personal attack against me for successfully encouraging people to share lossless files. Although I do admire your continuing efforts in promoting lossy sharing, even though it isn't getting you anywhere. The bottom line is: if you don't like this copy of the Toronto show, then fair enough. That said, find us a new source of a new show instead of complaining. |
| gb_master 13.09.2007 12:14 |
Yeah...lossless is always good. Thanks again Bob, don't care of those mp3 fans |
| PROGTROL 13.09.2007 15:43 |
Sir GH, many thanks for this lossless copy and all the efforts to make the Queen trading community a healthy one. I simply cannot believe why people are holding on to MP3 as a trading-format and bitch about flac, shn's and other lossless formats... Is it because their hardrives are too small or that they still downloading with a dial-up connection?! It's very simple to make mp3's (for your OWN use!) from FLAC's... But for god sake keep them OUT of the trading pool !!! Just my 2 cents... |

L-R-TIGER1994 wrote: Same concerts over and over and over and over and over and over again.....1)This is THE BEST version of this wonderful show. The uploader made the mix himself so he put time and effort in it. You should thank him and think about these things. 2) I think that about 100 shows(didn't count these though) have been shared the last year. The last few weeks we had drammen, kobe'75, tokyo'75,this show, frejus'86. What more do you want? That are all outstanding recordings. If you download all these, you'll have many shows already. So I don't understand what you mean. I'm sure other shows will follow in the future. And think about it:getting everything at once, would that be fun? I don't think so. |
| L-R-TIGER1994 13.09.2007 16:45 |
Luckily I have this version in FLAC mp3 and anything,I don´t need to put every single concert again to show how important I am on this forum,I don´t need to do that, and the only small thing here progtrol is your brain. |

In fact, I couldn't make it to the end because I couldn't see through the tears. If you would have read the first post (which you clearly haven't done), then you'd realize that you don't have this version, unless of course you created a similar compilation yourself, or hacked my computer to bypass downloading it from mediafire. I sincerely hope you enjoy making a complete ass out of yourself in almost every post you make on this forum. They are a joy to read and reply to. josedequeso wrote: Many thanks Sir GH, you upstaged me on my previous attempt to share this show, but after hearing the improvement all is forgiven:)Just so you know, it's the version you shared that I filled in the gaps with! |

| The Loser In The End 15.09.2007 04:03 |
...how big brain does one need to understand that FLAC files needs to be shared 'over and over again' and that the mp3's one creates for stricly personal use for her or his iPod (to hear the show over and over again...even in the train or subway) needs to stay strictly in private enviroment...to prevent future contamination... |

Sir GH, are you going to finish this fucking thing, or should I dump what I already have. I guess I'll contact lr-tigger1994 and see if he can't upload his mp3s, there probably isn't that much of an improvement. It's obvious that Sir GH is just wasting our time and I call for an immediate ban on him. Long live mp3s! |

What do you mean, "even Canadians" ?? On the topic of ignorant Americans making stereotypical and ill-informed comments about my beautiful country, I definitely don't like that rather ignorant picture in your profile, referring to Canada as your hat. Will respond to mail soon, unless I'm too disgusted by the above situation.Sir GH, the picture in my profile is a cheap shot at my fellow Americans, who laughed at that. For you see, many of the people I've met seem to think of canadians as punchlines. I mean no disrespect to you or any other canadians, I've always loved Canada. Where you said "ignorant Americans making stereotypical and ill-informed comments" that is what I was taking a cheapshot at. So, to repeat, I LOVE CANADA, I've thought many times of moving there. So don't be disgusted. I mean to spew no ignorance. Apollogies all around. :) |

Sir GH

ah yeah
wrote: Apology accepted. :) Are you actually from South Carolina, or is your entire profile a joke?I was born and raised in South Carolina, thus my bitterness and common disgust of the rednecks that surround me. My profile is completly accurate, everything. Well, I spelled god without a capital letter, so of course that's fake. South Carolina is a terrible place to be raised. I am a vegetarian, so I get shat on a lot for that, I could go on a whole 3 page rant about why I hate my state of birth, and why the second I turn 18, I am out of here. |
