Hi i've just been downloading plenty of queen concerts in FLAC format and i then downloaded a flac program to open them up or whatever. but everytime i go to encode or decode the files they come up with a error box and won't let me open them.
what do i do? i realy want to convert them for my own use so i can put them on the ol' mp3 player.
also RAR. .... what's this? i tried downloading a program to open these rar files, but it won't let me install the program. i don't want to pay for a zip file opener thing because i wont use the thing. somebody, can you help me?
your best bets are:-
for playing - winamp
for editing - cool edit pro
for burning - nero
then googel "flac plugins" and include the program name in the search - download the plugins and away you go
the rest is easy
I guess you run on Windows. If this is true, here are my tips :
VUPlayer - a free excellent player and converter, it will play your flac files and it can also convert them to mp3 files, if you really think it's a good idea.
Rar files - I can't understand how many people don't know this file format, it was probably the second file format I've known (the first one was txt). It's an archive, so it is simply a file which contains other files. If you want to unpack the archive, there are many programs for doing that, like Total Commander, but you really should have installed WinRar on your computer - I don't understand how some people can live without some programs
dbpoweramp will also convert to either WAV or (for personal use only) mp3
in general, you can search for any file format in google and find out what it's used for..
sorry should have elaborated more. yes i am running on a tosh laptop which in itself is running xp. the thing is i took the advice of the first poster and downloaded the trial ver. of cool edit pro for 21 days. but the thing is i open songs up in it, and it doesn't play them. well, there is sound coming in but it's static. i was wondering:
1) do i fiddle about with the setting before i enter a song into the program. .... grrr, i really don't know what to do as there are so many tabs in this cool edit pro software.

then you didn't take my advice as i typed it
i said google the program names and "falc plugin"
you will then find the plugins to make it work
all progs require plugins for some file formats
