I wonder so much why Queen production release the samething again and again and again.... I think every Queen fan watches the montreal concert...and would prefer Budapest or rio concert... |
Togg 20.08.2007 06:55 |
???? why? Surely the two you mention have both been seen just as many times, I think in reality most fans would rather see an earlier concert say Houston. However the reason they are releasing this on is it has the most hits on it so will appeal to more than just the hardened fan. Guys why keep bleeting on about this, it is what it is so just live with it |
Queenman!! 20.08.2007 07:41 |
Best quality High Def, best marketing options, most buyers, Cash Cow etc.... in the eyes of QP!! |
Double-U 20.08.2007 08:58 |
But a "Rock In Rio" - Boxset with both concerts in full lenght would be a release that would give us much more satisfaction, wouldn´t it? But surely, it would be to expensive and the concerts would stay as twins in a boxset like this. Hey, but Montreal really rocks! W. |
jcomber 20.08.2007 09:42 |
When you hear the quality of the musicianship of this concert that should answer all your doubts..eos. Budapest was a good performance but vocally Freddie was on the money in Montreal. |
Champipple 20.08.2007 09:51 |
Maybe. But the show had ZERO energy. "On Fire at the Bowl" was a much better show overall. |
Boy Thomas Raker 20.08.2007 09:56 |
I wonder if the new release will bring the audience extra energy. |
Oszmercury 20.08.2007 10:21 |
I wonder why are so many threads about it |
The Real Wizard 20.08.2007 10:38 |
They're releasing it because it will be the best quality Queen DVD ever released. Quality-wise, nothing can possibly top this... not even Budapest. |
Benn 20.08.2007 11:55 |
Because it's there and it's the oldest available film with "all your favourite Queen hits!" played in good quality. Fact that they have ignored what your average common or garden Queen fan wants (Houston or Hammy or Earls Court) is of no consequence apparently. Great art work too. |

Because QP doens't care about the fans needs. The only thing that matters is money. If you compare for example "The Who", full concerts direct from the sound board either audio or DVD. QP is a complete disgrace !!!! |

QP is a complete disgrace !!!!Yeah. Queen fans are waiting a decade for only some unheard demos on a likely very expensive boxset while Pete Townshend used to post much demos for free download on his site. The Who rules. Queen Productions can learn quite a bit from The 'Oo's production team and in that way Brian May can learn quite a bit from Townshend about how to keep fans satisfied with your musical legacy, IMHO. |

Why? Because it sells. Face it.. People buy cds/dvds that say: "Under Pressure, We Will Rock You and Radio Ga Ga" and not "Ogre Battle, '39 and Sweet Lade" |

And I hope Brian remembers this the next time he complains about Queen not getting their props about their great body of work, because to the casual fan or the man on the street, they have 10 or so songs that they keep flogging. |

Why Not, re: >Because QP doens't care about the fans needs. The only thing that matters is money. If you compare for example "The Who", full concerts direct from the sound board either audio or DVD. Yes, but look at what Teh Who's team are doing. They are almost exclusively STILL ignoring the fact that there's a wealth of material available from the band's classic era, yet they chuck out material from every show since John Entwistle died. Surely they could extend this to archive material as well? The Who By Numbers Deluxe has been shelved which was to feature a bonus disc taken from the Swansea show of 1976 which has been widely bootlegged. The Amazing Journey film which was a "The Kids Are Alright Mk2" has also drifted off "In The Ether". Pete and Roger are back focussing on "the now and the future" as opposed to "the then" that they were some 18 months ago. |

But they still did release stuff like the Young Vic concert, which didn't contain much material that the normal, casual listener would be familiar with. Also Pete's demos like the Scoop series and the Lifehouse boxset thingy, and like I said, free demos on his site, are some things QP could take notice off. And they don't re-release as much as QP do, like in the last case, Montreal. And well yeah they aren't doing much with 'the then' for about 18 months, but QP always let a few years pass before they release something *new* or interesting. |

The Who have had FAR more compilations than Queen. They've been around almost ten years longer too...so chill. |

AlexRocks wrote: The Who have had FAR more compilations than Queen. OK OK, The Who have done some stupid releases and compilations too ;). The main point was really that there are lots of demos from The Who/Pete Townshend available, and a fair amount of officialy released concerts, which QP hasn't done as much. But anyway, this was about WHY MONTREAL!!!!!!!! ;) |
g2000 22.08.2007 07:01 |
At the end of the day its a music business. queen arent in it to appease a few peoople they are in it to be a business which is to make money. why sell a dvd live box-set of two/three concerts when you can sell them individually and make more money. Thats a no brainer. The point is is that queen/mercury releases make a shed load of money, and they achieve this by always thinking globally. im still not sure if a casual buyer will really buy queen at hyde park/houston or whatever, with tracks like sweet lady or white queen or father to son. Queen released At the beeb, how well did that do?? Montreal was shot on film so the look will be spectacular, and as all the hits are on their its a no brainer. Its the kind of gift you can buy your gran for christmas - shell love it |
Boy Thomas Raker 22.08.2007 10:01 |
"Its the kind of gift you can buy your gran for christmas - she'll love it." And that sums up why people don't take Queen seriously. Simon Le Bon from Duran Duran said that dangerous music comes from the edges. 70s Queen came from the edges. Then they became kings of the middle. The music was still well played, sung and produced, but they were more concerned about selling to a bigger demographic than making great music that found a loyal, but smaller audience. Some wag said that Queen's music turned from dangerously creative music to music that accountants could play in their Volvo's on the way home and feel they were rocking out. Yuck. |

g2000 22.08.2007 12:15 |
its so strange, queen have turned from this hard working, challenging quirky band that everybody hated or couldnt understand to suddenly become a very safe middle of the road legend. I dont recognise them anymore. Any fathers day complilation, youll find them. A Top Gear compilation, youll find them, radio 2 compilation youll find them. Rock classics, youll find them. but on the other hand more and more and more of their peers tell us that theyve been an influence on them |
Boy Thomas Raker 22.08.2007 12:23 |
Honestly Erin, I was quoting Duran Duran, not validating them! *BTR wipes mascara off eyes and hides hairband* Any influences are probably early Queen, g2000, and totally agree with you. |

BECAUSE IT'S ON FILM AND CAN BE IN HI DEF QUALITY!!!!!!!! YOU RETARDED IMP. I'm getting sick of ppl just waiting for any opportunity dissing Queen Productions fair or not. With Hi Def disks now, why not release it? It's the perfect time. |

Holly2003 23.08.2007 03:18 |
If it's not solely down to money then Queen productions (& Brian May?) have a bizarre attitude to the Queen catalogue. It appears older concerts won't be released because they aren't high enough picture quality, or the sound isn't as great as a concert recorded today. This is like saying "I'm throwing out the family album because the pictures weren't taken with a digital camera". I can't believe they are that dumb, so it must be the money. They've been milking inferior releases since GH3. |
PieterMC 23.08.2007 08:26 |
No older concerts are not being released because they don't contain the "hits". |
Nathan 23.08.2007 13:36 |
What Pieter has said makes a lot of sense. However, since Queen seem to be more popular than the Beatles, statistics-wise at least, I'm sure there must be thousands if not millions of devoted fans out there who wouldn't mind if the latest product contained, and I'll quote Monty Python, "something completely different". |

I don't know, they've their reasons, about the quality jjust remember Neil Young at the Massey Hall, a dvd from that concert, a very beautiful concert with an average quality, somethin similar is happenin with Floyd, this september is coming out a special edition of Piper at the Gates of dawn, 3 disc, one studio and oone mono version of the disc, plus onde disco with the singles and only 4 rareties... money maker |
Boy Thomas Raker 23.08.2007 14:17 |
"Did you see Queen live with Freddie?" Yes, six times. "If not this is probably the closest you're ever gonna get since it's on film and can be upgraded to hi definition you pea brain." Not Budapest? "Who cares if you seen it before, you never seen it like this and it has never been officially released the way Queen wanted it so give it a chance." Like we gave GHIII a chance, and the bad releases since Freddie's death, plus the absolutely horrible effort on ANATO? How many chances do we want to have QP give us a quality product? "Plus the addition of the Live Aid stuff which to me doesn't make any sense on the surface other than trying to please Queen fans (FANS WHO BITCH ABOUT EVERY RELEASE)." People bitch, because Queen is all about minimum effort for maximum profits. Nobody minds if they make a profit, but please, the ANATO 30th anniversary release, which should have been their crown jewel re-release was a J-O-K-E. You can buy things and not complain. Others can buy things and complain. Or, not buy things and complain. I realize you can't please everyone, I and others sometimes feel that QP can't please anyone...except the Stepfords. |
