davidandbess wrote: I was there with my wife and it was a fitting tribute to the best frontman ever, all the bands did well, but to my mind Extreme were by far the best the lead singer voice was up there along with Freddie's and he is also quite the performer in that he likes to involve the audiance and he never stood still. The atmosphere was also a very joyous occasion with everyone entering the stadium getting a freddie scarf made of thin plastic and I'm not sure but did everyone not get red rose too (I'm sure someone else will mention it). Also seeing the vids of the great man on either side of the stage was also first class he was indeed himself the perfect gentleman.I only wish more people of the younger generation could have seen him live to apprecaite how outstanding he was, me myself I seen the band on 6 occasions.btw Gearge Michael also was very good with his rendition of Somebody to love with Lisa Stansfield. It was a brilliant day out and everyone enojoyed it,thanks for reminding me of it :-) Best Regards D/BWhat the hell are you talking about, Extreme wasn't at Live Aid. You some how confused Live Aid with the tribute concert...wow!!!!!!! I guess it's about time for Alzheimer's to start creeping in for ppl who was of age in the 70's and 80's. |

I was just reading queen cutting.com and there is an article from the sunday sport that says freddie admited being bi sexual during the live aid extravagnza apparently telling the crowds "I could never i fall in love with a man, the way i fall in love with a girl" Now, the reputation of the Sunday Sport as a reliable source of news has NEVER been good.... but does anyone know if at any point he said this or not? It certainly seems like a strange thing to say at such an event. and its certainly not on my live aid dvd! I just wondered... if you were there... did this really happen? The article also takes credit for freddie admitting that he has aids! so it wouldn't surprise me if the other part is made up too! link (exscuse the boobs. it IS the sport after all) |

I was there at Wembley, a teenage lad at the time, oh how time flys. A great time, Queen of course were the best of the day, followed in my oppinion by U2. Phil Collins played both venues & when the helicopter that was taking him to the airport flew over the stadium, the crowds exploded with cheers. Also the "Concord" did a fly over. Also when Brian & freddie came on at the finale, you could actualy hear them perform with out the roadies/film crew going "two, two" ect as broadcast. It's good now the LIVE AID box set is out & we can hear ITTWWC? in it's full glory. The Who were also great, but I believe their set didn't get broadcast correctly due to sound problems. Saw Brian & Roger sat behind Charles & Di, but only at the last minute as they were leaving their seats. don't know how long they were sat there for as I was watching the stage. I was about half way back on the pitch, so the view was OK but not great. All in All , it was a great day, but I think all the other artists should have shortend their sets, so that QUEEN could have had more Stage time. (not biased, am I?) |
