Both Bands are great but of different genres. You can't really compare the two. The Beatles are of a complete different style to Queen. It's like saying the Late Jimi Hendrix was a great guitarist, but the Late classical guitarist Andrés Torres Segovia was shit. Again, both were great but of different styles. a bit narrow-minded original statement if you ask me. |

Oh and THIS is the truth haven't you noticed that 89% of Queenzoners hate your lame ass band. Doesn't that give you a clue? I would HONESTLY tell you if your band was good...they aren't though. By the way if your Max you are an ugly motherfucker too. The ONLY one with a Hint of skill not incredible but a hint of skill is the keyboardist... only because Endless Void is decent. Say you have more talent the The Beatles I bet Paul could rip you to shreds on guitar. Even the Beatles shittiest song maybe "Not a Second Time" (opinion) beats your shit. You are obviously not in this band and talking and bashing you makes me feel stupid. Better than the Beatles though haha you would have been FAMOUS had you lived up to your claim. No better than some of the rappers I hearyou are a totally ignorant stupid bastard with no taste. People who talk shit about us dont know shit about music or songwriting and couldnt compose a song as good as ours if their life depended on it. Fact remains that the beatles are nowhere near queen or us. Its baby music for mindless idiots like you. I dont give a fuck what you say because you are a low being, a garbage human |

Queen had the most talented musician/singer and frontman in the history of mankind also so i dont see how this mediocre band can compare with Queen, They are just hype, thats all. You are predictable. And repetative. I've listened to all your songs (I was really needing a laugh at the time) and like I said, they lack all you claim. They are not complex or strong or anything. I could play all you've, ahum, Europe has written and you couldn't play all I've written. Your total number of 'written' and 'performed' songs are three. Shows how creative you are/claim/want to be. Although I agree that the Beatles are often overrated, as there are many bands who, musically, are just as talented as Paul, John, George and Ringo were/are in fact more so, they aren't shit. You continually berate us for our idiocy in not recognising the classical influence in your music, yet you consistently fail to discuss your music in any technical terms whatsoever. Do you understand how classical music operates? Do you grasp the inherent subtlties of Bach and Beethoven (obviously Mozart is beyond your ken)? My statement stands: an artist cannot create in a genre they have no knowledge of. If you know nothing of classical music technically you cannot create it originally. That is the nature of having knowledge and using it to create. Any semblance to classical music you might propose is merely you attempting to interpret the music you have listened to, but do not understand from a technical standpoint. If you wish to disprove this statement, please, by all means tell us precisely how you integrated classical sensibilities into your music. I do not hear it; therefore you must point it out to me. Instead of insulting me, convince me. |

Treasure Moment, for a small moment in your life can you please keep your opinion to yourself, especially when that opinion isn't backed up by any sufficient evidence and you are forcing it on everyone as though it's factual? I mean, really. It's okay to say you THINK that Queen kicks the shit out of the Beatles. I wouldn't go starting a topic on it, anyway, but it still is an opinion and you show you recognise that. It's another thing entiirely to say Queen DOES kick the shit out of the Beatles. That is false in itself. Even if you are not partial to The Beatles, they still inspired Queen and are far more popular worldwide. Some people I've met didn't know Queen until I introduced them to it. The Beatles, on the other hand, are known by every person I've known. Secondly, I'd like to say that if you ARE going to start one of your topics stating an opinion or an opinion presented as a fact, get used to the fact people are going to differ with you. That's the thing about opinions: everyone's got one, and everyone's is different. If you want to restate your opinion and tell them why you think what it is you think, say it in a civil way rather than saying, "you're an idiot and deaf stupid man." If you continue to present these opinions in such pigheaded ways, get used to being called a douche or whatever back. And in the future, you should try to be open-minded to things instead of thinking your opinion is truth. That's all I have to say to you. Have a nice life. |

Or...if YOU can hear it, maybe it's YOUR problem. Just an interesting side note...classical music is infinitely complex and layered. For you to claim that you can create classical music - or even successful classical overtones - without a hint of musical theory is tantamount to a four-year-old gleefully claiming he can drive a mac truck. Without proper musical training you're doing nothing more than cobbling together half-formed influences, with a less than savoury result. It also betrays a decided artistic laziness on your part. Don't you care enough about your music to learn how to make it properly? Oh, and if you are curious as to how classical sensibilities can be combined with rock, listen to the band Royal Hunt. They beat you to it, I fear (besides which their chief composer is a classically trained pianist). |

Their songs are based on a few chords that repeats through the whole song. The keyboardist while being more skilled than ours just uses it as a solo instrument mostly while ours build a whole song with it, melody that continues not just 3 or 4 chords. It was very simple songwriting, basic stuff. If you claim that band has more complex songstructure than us then you dont know what you are talking about, our melodies are much longer than a few seconds of repeated chords. |

Well, there are some in a great while, but the majority of pop music is REALLY bad. I can't count the number of rock bands today that really sound the same, like I know they may be a part of a certain genre, but there are four or five rock bands now that I can think of that if they were to cover each other's songs, they'd probably sound like the same band. Nothing really memorable, just sort of repetitive. You know what I mean? |

Queen were a great band we know especially live but they were other bands that were equally influential what really fucks me off is a lot of people (on this forum) just automatically assume Queen rule & dismiss everything else. Its all about personal preference but to me Led Zep, Hendrix, ACDC, Aerosmith, David Bowie, Marc Bolan & The Who were just important. I love punk too, Iggy & The Stooges, The Ramones, The Damned, UK Subs, Pistols, Crass, Patti Smith, New York Dolls, Slaughter And The Dogs, Buzzcocks, Dead Kennedys & The Greatest of them The Clash. Its the whole punk movment (not just about music)but it did make music more accessible without getting to heavily into it i'll keep it short listening to people like Hendrix,Clapton, Beck & you can threw Brian May into this too you'd have to practice for 20 years to play the stuff, Punk brought it back to basics rock'n'roll Lyrically I can relate a lot more to Clampdown by the Clash & than someone with a bottle of moet chandon that isnt dimissing Killer Queen its a lovely tune but Queen weren't & still arent the be-all & end all |

Man... if you didn't get any emotion from that Gilmour bit you must be dead. I sometimes find him a bit boring, to tell you the truth, but that clip I enjoyed a lot. How he played that acoustic, man! I wished Brian experimented more with his solo live. He always plays the same thing. I wish I could take you more seriously but I can't get past the "80's were the highlight for quality inspiring music" argument. Even Queen's output in the 80's was way inferior than in the 70's. Less inspired and with much less feeling. If you say the 80's was the time when there were REAL artists, could you please name a few of your favorite artists from the 80s? Even if you say Queen, 70's Queen kicks 80's Queen's ass! Wiley |

Sure they wrote some very good stuff in the 70s but i think there were more quality songs in the 80s I dont know, i just get the feeling that 80s music had the most emotion in it, of course it depends on which band also since there is stuff from the 50s that is great too but overall i think the 80s were the best. |

In its coolness, it is in fact highly unromantic and almost rationalist. There is a great deal of difference between technical perfection and emotional perfection, the one being a physical function of structure and the other being a personal preference solely dependant on a poem's individual resonance. I find the majority of Keats' poetry to be utterly enlightening and breathtaking;I can see your point, but I have to disagree on that, for the reasons of my taste that I mentioned above.however, I revere many poets besides, including Frost, Thomas and (especially) Whitman. Indeed, Whitman epitomizes a wild perfection of form, a perfection achieved through the aggressively idiosyncratic.I'm glad to see we fully agree here ^^That and he had a big, bushy beard, which is always good. You must love Karl Marx then :P Though I must say, an awful lot of confederate generals had big, bushy beards, not to mention Atilla the Hun. As for judging Keats...opinions are opinions. Viewing Keats from the context of modern free verse can indeed cast him as a restrictive and stuffy artist; however, in his time his creative views were quite revolutionary. This is the man who conceptualized Negative Capability and wrote 'Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know' in the same poem as the intentionally ridiculous trumpeting of 'More happy love! more happy, happy love!' For his theoretical work alone I love him; for his bold lyrical improvisations and daring, I adore him. However, I certainly don't expect every lover of letters to feel likewise! |

Oh, come one. This was a good Treasure Moment bashing topic. Don't take it all personal. I enjoy reading this guy's nonsense and seeing how every now and then someone takes the time to try and reason with him and then loses hope, haha :). I do it every now and then. |

I know you can't expect all the world to be wrong and only you being correct. The point of having a "Discussing" forum is to discuss and you usually don't leave much room for discussion. If you come here expecting everyone to agree with you then why come in the first place? Whilst not wishing to encourage this bloke I have to say this topic is a classic example of why I can't be bothered with QZ these days. Just reading the title makes you realise that you are dealing with someone who has no grip on reality or the faintest hint of how to discuss intellegently a musical critique. Well done Sir with five words you have demonstrated the limit of your intellect. bravo |
