I'm sure those that are still sleeping off the effects of the room party might have a thing or two more to add, but the little gathering was darn good this year.
Nan made sure that the WWRY cast spoke with those who went to the Toronto show. Always something special thought up by the crew.
Will save any further comments til a home arrival.
yes I have to admit the gathering was a blast. Wish they had them more then just once a year.
Wish they were at least twice a year.
Take care all you queenies out there.
Cindy
Ahh, Cindy, if only that were true. Part of DJing with Ricky G was getting up early, staying til the end, and then being too wound up to sleep much. Plus, I had to pack away my golf clubs.
Thanks to JulieP and Jen, I finally got 'The Prize' for 1st in trivia (team-wise). (damn tough, and no 'Christopher Lambert' brain farts this year). Ricky did one hell of a job not making it easy. JulieP also won the Friday Brian May trivia contest.
Linda, Linda, Nan, and Carrie handled the con duties with class (stressed, but they held their cool).
I believe there were 17 who took the shuttle to the WWRY show on Thursday night. Nan Lawniczak made sure some of the cast were around afterwards to mingle and field questions for the group. Sadly, on the return trip, they were held up for around 90 minutes at customs, as ALL their belongings were needlessly searched.
The tribute band, 'Rock A La Carte', were very gentle, nonQueenish looking chaps (and lady). But, BOY, could they play. Snippets or full-length versions of 46 Queen tracks. A nice accoustic set, highlighted by 'Some Day One Day'.
The young 17 year-old lead guitarist did a fab 'Brighton Rock/Chinese Torture' solo, and finished their nearly two hour set with a live rendition of 'God Save The Queen'.
Grant won the first alphabet game, Stacey the second (poor Janet was Avis both times).
Some of us went to 'Tiger' Stadium and became lobsters during, before walking over to either Hockeytown or the Hard Rock for a beverage or three. Dream Theatre was listed on the marquee for the Fox Theatre. They played there last night. Wish we could have stayed.
There's more, but, maybe some will finally recoup and add more.
We're off to see 'Dream Theatre' tonight in Balto. Nice timing.
