Hi all,
As you know the above track is one of the few non album tracks/b sides etc you can't get on CD. I recently bought a USB turntable, and have great fun is copying all my vinyl.
Anyway, the copy of this song on the bonus LP in The Complete Works is really good, much better than I have heard anywhere else.
Sadly, as it is official I can't share it, however I really recommend anyone who wants a good copy of this track to lift it off the complete works, not the b side to play the game.
Thanks
I personally disagree. I have a pristine copy of Play The Game, and the version on the B-side sounds a lot better than the one on the 33rpm you name. The reason, IMHO? Because it's on 45rpm, and thus in a slightly higher resolution.
It greatly depends on the equipment you use for playback, of course. Some record players aren't really good at playing 45s, which will degrade the sound somewhat (it's something to do with the type of stylus they use, I think, but I'm not sure), but objectively speaking, 45s contain higher resolution music than 12" 33rpm long-playing records do.
I must agree, TQ. The 45 is much superior. I'm not sure of the reason, but my guess is similar to the audio tape vs video tape argument. Audio recorded onto a VHS or Beta tape has much more tape to deal with, maybe speed is a factor with LPs.
Anybody knowing the answer to this would be enlightening.
