I think that gives us just enough time to do something.
I was thinking a remix competition, with submissions up until October, and then a voting process until the weekend before the date (October 25/6th at GMT midnight), which'll give me enough time to do a podcast on the date itself.
Now I have collected remixes already, but I don't have any for "All Dead, All Dead" and "My Melancholy Blues." If enough people are interested I can post a big ZIP of that collection.
A friend of mine suggested that along with the remix album, we could include real-world news events that have happened in the past 30 years. In keeping with the spirit of the magazine and the reason the Queen album is named after it, I thought you could even narrow it down to Queen-related tabloid items.
Other ideas? It's grown a bit quiet around here lately, and I think this album is in enough people's minds to inspire some discussion (as well as billions of WWRY remixes :) )
What about mixing a live version of we will rock you from Queen a live QPR version and Roger's version from the cyberbarn (or just his vocal). Then get Freddie,Paul & Roger to sing a verse each. Just a suggestion that could work or go horribly wrong.

I'd try to get Brian before Paul, but I'd at least let him say "ya cayn't stop da RAAACK"
Zeb and Fried, how bizarre... There's no dvd-a because some nitwit STOLE the master multitrack tapes for NOTW!! How quickly people forget.
Brian has made a few posts about getting them back and appealing to whoever has it to return it, even without any comeback about why they have it.
So, Brian WANTED that dvd-a to happen, but the theft of the multitrack stopped it from happening back in...2003.
Adam.

Er um yes but you know how long it takes to record "Property of Queen Productions" every 10 seconds on 40 minutes of material, TIMES 16 for each of the multitracks?? Whaddya mean "copy and paste?"
Alright, now that I've got my August podcast out of the way I can concentrate on this a bit.
Here's all the fan-made NOTW-related remixes I have in my musty archive: link
Post your remixes here or in Sharing or in separate threads.
But be prepared to offer HQ versions (higher than 192 kbps I would say.) I intend the best of these to comprise a special NOTW Remix album that we can offer to Queen Productions (in whatever format they're comfortable with, probably vinyl :).
[EDIT] Thanks vicspec for letting me know the link was down.
just posted the promised MMB remix: link
I've also got a mishmash of Nine Inch Nails vs. Queen for Fight From the Inside which I hope to finish for ya.
Btw Ern, that mediafire link to all your fan-made NOTW-related remixes is down.
Ok folks, last call for NOTW fanmixes.
I'll be squeaking out a podcast on the 31st, which means I'll need submissions no later than 12/30 at midnight GMT.
I'm several months behind on podcasting and hoping to catch up this weekend. Go nuts!

C'mon, I know one of you did a rap remix of All Dead... Bunny? Bueller... Bueller...
lol i freakin' love that movie! :p
Anyways, i understand it's too late for a 30th Anniversary thing now, but it's given me ideas...
We are coming up on the 30th Anniversary of Queen's debut album...!

35th, right? ;)
Yeah, actually if you have any remixes at all don't hold back. I already published a NOTW 30th podcast but I was hoping it would provoke some "I can do better than THAT" mixes.
But yeah, I have quite a few Queen I remixes in the back-catalog, and you'll all suffer through them if you don't submit your own before July!!!!

Whoa! My bad. Wow, what was i toking when i typed that? lmao
Well, it is a 30th anniversary for something else...what say we play 'more of that Jazz'?
-=Brian=-
Yeah I'm up for doing both -- they're the only "round number" anniversaries next year.
The poll I took of which album people wanted remixed yielded mixed results. There were no obvious winners, except "Return of the Champions" received two write-in votes, not sure how to interpret that one :)
