Just out of interest, Is it anyones favourite Queen album? And just for the record, its not mine, Queen and Queen2 are mine. |
Wiley 13.07.2007 15:42 |
According to my profile, it is, but I wrote that many years ago. I still enjoy it greatly, by the way. It's great to listen to while driving my car. That one along with GH2 or maybe The Game. I like it more than AKOM and Flash Gordon. Wiley |

It's my third favorite album. My favorite are Innuendo and ANATO. |

It's mostly a bit of nostalgic factor here. The first two Queen albums I ever had were Hot Space and ADATR. I thought it was exceptionally cool that the same band had produced both albums. About only Hot Space, I used to like the beginning of Staying Power, the countriesque yet rocking Put out the fire, the chorus and riff in Dancer, the naughtiness of Body Language, a balad mentioning Lennon's name, a song in my mother tongue (Las palabras...), the overall mood in Cool Cat and the sheer greatness of Under Pressure, one of my favorites Queen songs ever. I've never been into funk or disco and I recognize that the album is nothing spectacular, the writing or arrangements are average but I think the production is good and the songs are quite enjoyable. I like to listen to it particuarly while driving. Actually, I thinks there's only so many times I can listen to long epics with dozens of voice and guitar overdubs before needing my 'pop' fix, haha :). Wiley |

haha:) cool, dats interesting to know. I just wanted another opinion different to the usual "Hot Space is crap" Kind of thing :) |

It has been a toss up between The Game & Hot Space for me, but I'd have to give the edge to Hot Space. Back Chat has the best solo in it, it's probably my favorite that Brian has done. Short, too the point. Most classic solos are, and this is certainly one. Cool Cat, as Wiley said, has a great mood. The bass is off the hook for me. But then I ended up liking John's songs the most after this album. I think it odd the abuse Hot Space takes. When they call a bunch of white english rockers a great R&B band, it's supposed to be a compliment, not turn their fan base. Maybe that's why the Stones are all still going strong. |

So is it an album that u would listen 2 right through from beginnig to end with out skipping over any tracks? |
kohuept 13.07.2007 17:19 |
I like it the most for, admittedly, strange reasons. It is the easiest to listen to. While other albums have better and more interresting songs on them, I feel more obligated to 'pay attention' to them. Hot Space, I can listen to while getting ready to go out, go to work, or in the car, as mentioned before. Queen II may be regarded as the BEST album, but you really can't just pop it in and listen to FFMS and be done. It loses something without the songs before and after. Hot Space does not have this 'problem'. Basically, I like it the most because it is more accessible at any given time, has catchy, poppy, upbeat songs on it, and doesn't have to be listed to all the way thru (though I don't mind that). |

It's probably in my top five, maybe top four of Queen albums. I love Back Chat... really nice, I like the song when I'm in a pissed mood. Life Is Real is really, well it's hard to describe. I listen to it when I'm depressed and maybe it even makes me more depressed, but I think it's a classic. Staying Power is really nice, extremely danceable, and I like dance music. Dance is one of my favorites from this album, as it's got a slap across the face riff, and Freddie performs some great vocals on it, and I play it often, more often than most things by Queen. Action This Day is pretty nice, I used to be obsessed with this song but I'm not so much anymore, but it's still a great cruising song. Put Out The Fire is fantastic. Hard rock at it's best, I dont' care if Brian was drunk while doing bits of it. The guitar work on it is best, love Freddie's vocals on this one. Calling All Girls is nice, probably one of the least played from this album in my book, but I love it everything I hear it. It's classy. Las Palbras De Amor is great and I think it's my girlfriend's, it's one of her favorites. Cool Cat is nice and I love Freddie's vocals on this.. love playing it for friends. Under Pressure is... Under Pressure, everything great about this one. |

If I was to skip a track, it would be the ones that were the hits: Palabras and Pressure That's the beauty of "deep cuts". That's a term probably unfamiliar to the Hot Space haters and non-musical fans. You can listen to 'em over and over and they just get better with age. |

I agree with Microwave -- Back Chat is one of the best May solos, period. |

Like many Queen fans I find Hot Space to be mostly an appalling album. However, I think I like it more than Made in Heaven. Might even give The Works a run for it's money too. |
Wiley 13.07.2007 22:47 |
I really don't like Back Chat but I have to agree that the solo is great. I used to skip Body Language and Cool Cat but they grew in me. Actually, I met a guy (who then became a friend) and the first thing he said to me when he knew I was a Queen fan was: "Queen! Man, Body Language is hot.. great track!". I was in my Q2/ANATO/Innuendo phase so I was very surprised that, of all Queen hits, he mentioned that track. I listened to that song with new ears from that day on. Another friend of mine loved Need your loving tonight. He was my roomate and I used to play that song out loud when I woke up. He enjoyed it very much. It's great when people who aren't fans tell you about not so popular songs that they enjoy. I once downloaded en MP3 of The Prophet's Song (can't remember why) in a friend's computer. Maybe to show it to somebody. The next week, he was playing the track out loud and loving it. Cool! Wiley |

Yeh, I rekon Hot Space is a good album. When I get home from school, I come into my room and put on a record. Whilst I like some albums more, this is the one I put on most. I think that's because Queen does fun music very well, and they have about three albums which I consider to be a lot of fun, whilst having some emotional highlights. Jazz, The Miracle, and Hot Space are the fun Queen albums, mainly because they've got great songs on them which are really good to play if your in a bad mood or got the blues, works for me. Songs like Body Language, Fat Bottomed Girls, Dont Stop Me Now, Bicycle Race, Staying Power, I Want It All, etc. And then there are the emotional highlights like La Pabras Des Amor, which is one of my favorite songs and one of Queens best romantic songs. I think Hot Space is critized most not because it's a particularly bad album, but because it's different from what Queen had done previously, M.H |

Both of my friends (I don't give that name easily)fell in love with '39, and I was so happy with that! |

I think hot space is pretty good, and better than the miracle and a kind of magic. It's really not a bad album, also I think freddie's voice peaked. My only problem with this album is that it could have been really great. A few changes would have done the trick, like recording the disco tracks like live at the bowl (heavier) and improving some of the lryics to staying power and put out the fire. |

Yeah "Under Pressure" just seems tacked-on, since it was released at least a year (?) sooner on Greatest Hits. I guess I still think of that as the official album for "Under Pressure" instead of Hot Space. |
