I just saw that too.
Anything to push WWRY I guess. Ya it's sad, especially considering Brian's comments about the Rock Star show and how he'd not want to be part of that again.
Oh well. They're entitled to do what they want.
Ironic that everyone who sees no wrong with the QP approach to business never sees the down side, which is A) it cheapens the catalogue, B) it does nothing for the bands reputation, and C) QP is like the fucking Bank of England! If Queen needs to go to Walmart and be on Myanmar or Nepalese Idol, its got nothing to do with business, as they've all got enough money to provide for their next 20 generations. It's ego, and wanting to keep their name alive. Doing it with, IMHO, the lowest common denominators of retail and TV is sad. Queen, when Freddie was a creative monster in the 70s, were Zandra Rhodes designer frocks, driving Rolls Royce's or Ferrari's, and who'd have beautiful shops stay open so Freddie could shop for objet d'arts so he wouldn't have to mingle with the common people. Now, there are discount ticket deals to WWRY in a rag like the Sun, exclusive albums in the dregs of blue collar retail like Walmart, and appearances like contrived, bad TV like the Idol shows. The Beatles and Zeppelin have had way more integrity than Queen upon passing of band members. Sometimes business isn't everything.

That's an excellent point, Bohemian. Freddie had a real style, and whether it's apocryphal or not, the story about him selling Roger's jacket so he could have cab fare instead of having to get on a bus is Freddie. He made Queen regal, and everything that he brought to Queen (uniqueness in writing, presentation, recording and differentiating yourself from your peers) is the antithesis of the Idol shows. They want people who can fit in a box, and be presented to middle America in the safest, most white bread way possible. I'd like the people who always respond with "Freddie would want them to keep the Queen name alive" to think if he'd want the name kept alive through vehicles that are diametrically opposed to what he stood for?
Canadian Idol... they gotta be kidding! Why did Brian fight on his soapbox against all those "Pop Idol" competitions?
Ah yes, they must promote the musical. I forgot.

I didn't even know they had Canadian Idol. Usually I would insert my joke here, but I don't think I really need to. Canadian Idol? How many versions do we need?
Remember the Canadian version of the "We Are The World" song with Bryan Adams and Geddy Lee and others? I hope it's THAT good.
Let me know when Indian Idol comes out. That would be worth every penny, even Canadian ones.

WTF dude lol. Indian Idol is already out. We've had it since 2004. And it's shit.
There is nothing more wrong with Canadian Idol than there is with American Idol.
I think Brian had it right when he posted about how his experiences left such a bad taste in his mouth, and now he's a hippocrate diving back in for the sake of pushing WWRY tickets.
Some of you people are not being quite fair.Im thinking Bri and Rog want to help out.Thats not so wrong...anything that gets them to canada i will be happy with.
