Who cares? Overlooking the fact that you have rudely dismissed the people who DID answer you, the concert was two years ago - haven't you had any other excitement in your life since? Another concert, an extra pepperoni on your pizza, or maybe finally getting control of that embarrassing sex wee issue that's been plaguing your nights? |

Sometimes people say some stupid, stupid things on this message board and get jumped on, but equally, sometimes people are saying perfectly acceptable things, like here, and get jumped on for no reason at all. Its a perfectly reasonable thing to want to talk about, its in the right part of the message board, and if you dont want to talk about it, dont reply, rather than leap on the poor person like theyve committed some horrible crime! No one ever tell you, if youve got nothing nice to say, dont say anything at all? As it happens I was there, it was fantastic, particularly being too young to have caught the band live pre-1992, or indeed to have seen the guys' solo tours, so it suddenly got really real and exciting to have them right there in front of me! I remember being a bit awestruck to start with! There were some right idiots in the crowd though; Ive got nothing against middle aged people, and this board is probably packed with them, but the atmosphere up front was spoiled by people who didnt want to move and really rock the place; just wanted to stand and clap (this obviously isnt the case with everyone, but there did seem to be a high proportion of miserable 40+ year olds around). I got sick of being given disapproving looks for being young and wanting to be at the front; the unspoken gig rules had been completely rewritten; It was odd seeing only about 30 people jumping and rocking during TYMD; it would have been the whole first 10 or so rows back in the day! Other than that, which I had come to terms with after a song or two, it was great, and a fairly tight performance given the fact they were still only warming up as a touring act again! Glad someone made a bootleg as well; nice to relive it now and again! |

I was there together with a friend, we flew in from the Netherlands and I still remember walking up to the entrance of Brixton Academy and saying "look, there's not much of a queue yet"... only to find out we had to walk alongside the entire building, turn left, walk alongside the entire backside of the building, turn left again, and then be the last two guys in the row over there (we weren't the last two for very long, fortunately). The concert was just great, it was my first one at BA and I took some time to get used to the downwardsloping standing area. We had a great night! |

Well, yes and no - a bootleg taper would surely have got a better recording a little way back rather than standing front and centre. I find the sound can sometimes be more distorted up close - possibly due to the volume its hitting your ears at. In fact the video recording of the show is nicely positioned a little way back. To be honest - I was just frustrated that there were clear gaps in between people in which my friend and I could have moved to get the better atmosphere at the front, but people got genuinely angry, and a couple of older guys even manhandled us for trying to get a good spot. Its not like we were pushing or anything; just moving through the gaps. As it worked out there was more freedom off to the left of the stage at the front where the toilets are, so we wandered that way, and had a good time with the people around us. I ended up with some father and son with their arms around me giving it sways to WATC - lovely moment of people getting into the music and having fun! Enjoyed myself more than the grumps anyway Im sure! :) |

Anyway, in the spirit of all getting on, and given its been like 3 years, I forgive the miserable people. Good show. Roger looked like he was going to die after Im In Love With My Car; he looked completely knackered - guess he just need to get his match fitness back. hehe. |

I went,on the whole a good show, apart from the terrible opening when they played ALL song 13 off Made in Heaven. That did not help at all, wait all that time to see them and the build up is about 20 minutes long?Agree about the crowd,I am in my thirties but was well up for it but a lot of people around me where to busy comparing old for new that they didn't just relax and enjoy it for what it was. |

Yeah - I remember hoping they didnt do the same thing with the intro when I saw them at Manchester! I remember enjoying songs from Paul's catalogue more than I was expecting, and being delighted to hear '39 and a couple of others as well as the more predictable numbers. Being a fan of Back to the Light, I was also surprised, but very pleased when Brian started Last Horizon - I remember thinking he was just teasing around for a minute with it, but then he went and played the whole thing - lovely piece of guitar. :) |
