Anybody here listened to Queen before saw them? So, I imagined: They had 4 people... Lead singer (Freddie): Blonde English lead singer with ruffled head of hair. Guitarist (Brian): Curly black hair with moustache. Drummer (Roger): N / A Bassist (John): Black hair with a hairy hands :D I first looked at their image at sing365.com + queen biography. And thought Freddie was Roger, Roger was John, and John was Freddie :D. |
Sweetie 08.07.2007 07:27 |
when I first heard them it was about three seconds before I saw them because I couldn't see the TV screen...but my first thought was a big hairy lead singer - how right I was |

I always knew what Brian looked like, and Roger too, but I always imagined Freddie as being a hairy, darker haired version of Mick Jagger. I wasn't too far off the mark really. As for John... I don't think I really thought about him. |

I never really thought about it. When I just saw a picture, I thought Brian was Freddie - I think it was the hair. |

I always figured they looked kinda like KISS, only w/out the makeup. But that was before I saw the actual band. |
MamaQueen 08.07.2007 11:09 |
I saw their picture in the Greatest Hits I LP a friend of mine had in 1979. I thought, what a bunch of dark dressing, somber, serious guys. Ja, was I fooled! But I loved their music from the begining. |

I thought they'd be ugly. I listened to CCR long before I saw pictures of the members, and I was quite disappointed. Same with The Byrds. And Sublime were ugly. too. I thought they'd all be more attractive. xD Shame on me. I was pleased with Queen, though. :P Same with Zeppelin and the Beatles. And a few other bands. I wasn't personally attracted to any of the members; but I won't deny they looked good. :D |
Sebastian 08.07.2007 12:16 |
Good question. I really don't remember ... I think I pictured them as some sort of Led Zeppelin wannabes. |

First time I saw them, I genuinely thought they were French - no idea why. I also thought that Brian played in the Alex Harvey band (clown make-up) as well as Queen. Saw them live in 82 at Ingleston - actually third time but first time close-up. Struck how immaculate they were in terms of appearance! Then Fred invited everyone to shower with him because the venue was 'like a bath-house!' - I was seriously terrified at that moment (tender age of 17!!) - no way was I showering with Freddie Mercury!!!! How stupid was I? D'oh |
Dusta 08.07.2007 15:55 |
I was an odd kid. I didn't picture them as people, but, as a kind of purple and blue cloud. |

i had the greatest hits cd and it came with a booklet with pictures, so i already knew how they looked, i just didnt know who was who, except for freddie, bc he was the guy with the moustache and who looked like my dad. i just got the rest of the band mixed up by their voices. when i heard im in love with my car, i thought it was brian, and when i heard '39, i thought it was roger singing. and then i didnt know where the fourth person fit in since he didnt sing. |

galileo_figaro_magnifico 08.07.2007 22:05 |

Heh. The first time I heard Queen was in my cousins car. He tended to play them a lot when I was a kid. I always imagined that the vocalist looked like Niall Quinn. The football player. I think its because Quinn and Queen sounds quite similar. Stupid I know. Kinda miss those adventerues times though. Every time I saw a clip of Queen is was amazing. heh... |

Well, the first Queen CD I bought (Greatest Hits 1) had pictures in it. I knew who Freddie and John were. But I thought Roger's name was Brian and played drums. And I thought Brian's name was Roger and he played bass. (If that makes any sense.)And I thought John played the guitar.... I know that was stupid, but I was only eight years old when my mom bought me that CD... |
steven 35638 09.07.2007 20:55 |
At the time I didn't even know much about rock and roll, so I really had no expectations. The first photograph of Queen I ever saw was in the Hollywood Records Greatest Hits release (the red one). It was on the first page of the booklet believe it or not. |

I didnt have that option. I already knew what they looked like before i heard them. I didnt even know the name of the band when i first saw them live on stage in 1973.=) |

When I first seen them- I got Brian and John mixed up. At that time, when I first heard and seen them, Brian was my favorite. I always liked the guitarist, but as I got to listen and see more and more of them, I really got to like Freddie and Roger the best! When I seen Freddie-I hadn't pictured him that way at all when I listened to the album. |

Heard their music on 'Gladiators' (AOBTD and WWRY) I knew who Freddie and Brian were when I looked at the sleeve of 'Greatest Hits I' on vinyl but didn't know Roger and John until I read their names on QueenZone! |
MrTomaX 12.07.2007 22:23 |
My first image of Queen was just like they were in the 70's...but i never thought about their 80's look. The first time i saw Freddie with mustache i said "Who's that guy? That's not Freddie!" |
is this a kind of magic? 12.07.2007 23:30 |
hehe it's funny, i remember back in 1998 ( i was 14 ) i was in an english course and became friends with a guy who was really into Queen. so, one day i was listening to the radio, and they played Bohemian Rhapsody. i thought the name of the song was "nothing really matters" and heard the radio guy say the band was queen. so i went to my friend and asked him if Queen had a song called like that, he says no, the name is bohemian rhapsody, and i couldn't believe, because the name didn't suit the song, i thought... then he showed me the video, and I asked him if all of them were gay (it pisses me off to hear questions as these now... but anyway)... i can still remember him saying that "no, for example this one (Brian) has hundreds of kids!!!" and i told him there are lots of gay men with children, but i was impressed nonetheless hahahaha well this was my first impression of Queen |
sparrow 21754 13.07.2007 11:30 |
i remember watching 'classic queen' when i was little and when it went from 'a kind of magic' to 'bohemian rhapsody' i thought some girl was singing for freddie XD i debated with my mom over it. 'no mom! thats a girl singing for freddie! thats not him! he has a moustache!' then when we get to 'i want it all' he didnt have a moustache, and i was confused. |
Grapes 15.07.2007 12:24 |
I remeber I first saw them while watching Waynes World. I thought..what a crap band. Then I found a Queen piano music book with a picture of them on. My cousin was telling me Freddie was gay and liked it up the ass. I asumed he was Brian. And Brian was Roger and so on. |
Vincent. 15.07.2007 15:37 |
Hm... I knew Freddie was gay...I pictured him as some big poof transvestite looking fellow. I thought he wore frilly frocks and lipstick. And in the first photo I saw of them...I thought Brian was Freddie. The hair, I suppose. And I got Roger and John Mixed up. I've always thought that Bri and Rog were handsome...And I've always though Freddie was really really ugly. When I first watched the Bo Rhap video I was so disappointed because he was hideous!(buck-toothed hairy gorilla) xD He still is kind of ugly, but somehow he's attractive. :P |

Upon hearing Bo Rhap, I envisioned Freddie as a young British guy with short hair and a serious acne problem. Slightly off topic: I thought Brian was the one with the raspy voice. |
