Hello to all. New user of this forum here so please don't bite me too hard.
I have just finished listening to the Hot Space album and I couldn't help but notice that I was enjoying it more than I used to.
I sat for a few seconds pondering the reason. Then it hit me like a hammer, the reason is because Brian May doesn't feature much on this album for some reason or other.
Does anyone else find his constant and frankly seemingly endless guitar solo's rather grating on the ears these days? I probably did enjoy them at one point in the distant past but these days they could pass for an over zealous teacher winding up his class by screeching hell out his black board.
All comments welcome, good and bad.

I don't know, the only guitar solo that ever really annoyed me was the one in "Brighton Rock". And that whole screechy thing in "Sheer Heart Attack" (but that's not really about duration).

You've got a point about Brian's current playing, but you must realise that when he started back when, he was a breath of fresh air - only became tedious in the 80's
I don’t find Brian’s guitar solos on the studio albums endless or annoying in any way. His guitar is an integral part of Queen’s sound and IMO quite enjoyable and melodic. They are Brian’s ‘voice’—-without Brian’s guitar, Freddie may as well have just been a solo act.
The only guitar solo I don’t care for is Brian’s solo at the concerts—too long and seems to me to go nowhere.
I love Brian's sound that he gets. Its Unique. But yes I confess I sometimes skip tracks like Bijou and Chinese torture and all those :)
I still love him though!
