I noticed Queens 1975 perth concert was mentioned in another post, so I'm just wondering if anyone here went to that concert. What was it like? Was the band in good form?
I saw it at the Edgley entertainment center, dam it was a long time ago. Seem to have positive thought about the show but I have to say, my recollections are fading. I live in the US now but did go back to Perth recently. The Arena has changed names but still there. The sound was never that good there. Very boomy, with a fair bit of echo. I wonder if that's changed.
Around the same time I got to see the Kinks, Sweet, ELO, Stevie Wonder and Kiss here.
Back in the day man.
The entertainment centre, which is what your talking about, has been closed for a few years. It was actually the largest indoor venue in the world until it's closing. It's being replaced by a new thing called Perth Arena.
well I'll go out on a limb and assume you mean my Perth..
I pass that building on the train every morning. A graffiti'd, derelict thing it is now. Basically the best way to get your way as a developer in this city is to let your target building neglected, then nobody will want to pay to have it 'refurbished' and you can go ahead and demolish it.
Fantastic, eh!!

When it was opened. it was called the Edgley Entertainment Center. I did not know it was the largest in the world. Are you sure? Capacity was less than 10,000. Looked a bit run down when I was there last. Interestingly, the area of the city to the north was once quite seedy and I recall frequenting some of the illegal Italian casinos that were nestled in between the brothels. Had to be buzzedt in, got free cheese sandwiches and were raided regularly by the police.
This area is now very clean, nice eateries and expensive condos. How things change. Casinos are legal, but did the brothels re-locate?
Im talkin about Perth,Western Australia, Australia and check an old guiness book of records, its certainly in there. Yeah its in Northbridge, which is the entertainment precinct, which like all night life areas can be a bit seedy.
