What will the 1990's be remembered for, in your opinion. We all seem to attribute different decades to different struggles, epochs in thought, cultural revolutions. In the 60's the sexual revolution and the civil rights movement. The 70's brought long hair and anarchism. The 80's brought the Disco. What did the 90's bring??? |

What did the 90's bring???80's disco? i dont think so:having been a teen through the 80's im pretty sure disco was well dead by then.it was all synth pop to start the decade with groups like ultravox and soft cell and visage, then we had wham, duran duran and spandau ballet followed by frankie goes to hollywood and sigue sigue sputnik and then groups like u2,simple minds, guns n roses, t'pau and transvision vamp mixed in with stock, aitken and waterman rubbish and jive bunny remixes. the 90's started off well with a band called queen releasing an album called innuendo and the emergence of rem and nirvana into the mainstream which enabled RHCP to get more national airplay, plus the emergance of dance acts like faithless and rave music.we then got the blur and oasis feud which wouldnt of happened if it wasnt for the happy mondays followed by the bloody spice girls and take that[crap era] and celine dion, meatloaf, whitney houston, bryan adams and wet wet wet being no1 for years at a time.it will probably be remembered most as the start of the indie scene we have now and the end of decent songs at number one,if anyone disagrees with the last bit i have two words for you "mr blobby". |

i wasnt really there for any of the 80's, so i can really never know. but here goes anyway: 80's: shiny new things, extra big, but simple, and sometimes more complex, depending on what it was. less circular things, and more corners.. 90's: the shiny things got kind of dingy and recycled and stickers all over it. and then everything was patterned. just a complete mess of tackiness.. i would have much liked to live in the 70s and 80s. it sounds alot better to me!! |

I have to agree with people mentioning Oasis in a negative way... They're an okay band. But they seem to think they're fucking legends. Why on Earth does that bastard from Oasis think Green Day would want to copy Wonderwall when their album was already full of potential hit singles? And what was the point in randomly insulting Bono for his charity work? At least Bono is doing something useful, helping people... Which does not cause any harm, as far as I know. If the guys from Oasis want to be legends, they should open their eyes, see Wonderwall is just yet another good (but not special) pop song and try to compose something a bit more unique and less commercial. |
