Police have found the bodies of WWE superstar Chris Benoit along with his wife and child. They believe he has murdered them before killing himself. More info at link |

i know! i was so shocked to hear this news! i was HUGE fan of his... i don't get why he had to kill himself and his family... he was at the frickin prime of his career! this is truly a sad incident. but eddie guerrero's was more sad. |
@ndy38 26.06.2007 05:45 |
At first i thought it was one of WWE's over-the-top storyline's because it's such an unbelievable thing, but bloody hell.... RIP the Benoit family :( |
eenaweena 26.06.2007 05:52 |
^i thought so too! coz mcmahon's death is a fluke. |
@ndy38 26.06.2007 06:16 |
Yeah they've now scrapped the McMahon death storyline because of what happened. On this weeks RAW it was just Vince standing in an empty arena whilst showing clips of Benoit's greatest matches..... |
JoxerTheDeityPirate 26.06.2007 06:51 |
i had a feeling something had happened whilst watching wwe vengence on sunday night when benoit no-showed and jr and lawler said he had a personal problem re his absence.the last times theyve used that comment were for brian pillman and eddie guerrero when they died and what with the mcmahon limo storyline just starting its ironic how "life does imitate art". this is as tragic as owen harts death. rip benoit's :-[ edit: no doubt powerslam magazine will be doing a big feature on this in their august edition along with sensational sherri's death too last week.. |
eenaweena 26.06.2007 07:07 |
OMG! she died too? what in the... Vince should end his stupid storyline. |

Why on Earth did the bastard have to kill his wife and child, too..? Was it not enough to take his own life? I respect him for his career- which I'm sure was very prolific- but as a person, he gets squat from me. Maybe I'm just not compassionate in the morning. |

Suicide is enough for family to deal with, without taking his wife and son too. And leaving his other children without a mother or father, that's harsh. |

I think the WWE are handling it the best they can, Vince stated that Benoit's name would not be mentioned in the Smackdown! or ECW shows to be aired this week, and instead both shows will be dedicated to those affected by what happened. The latest information can be found here: link It is believed that Benoit was injecting his son with growth hormones as the child was considered to be 'undersized.' Although this has NOT been confirmed. |

it's probably the effect of mandatory steroids and painkillers. a lot of wrestling superstars, including eddie guerrero, felt the aftermath after the use of anabolical steroids. all i can say is that chrisbee still rocks. it just sucks that he decided to kill his family too. |
@ndy38 27.06.2007 06:55 |
Well the 'roid rage' factor seems to be completley refuted by the WWE, but that is to be expected, as the company would want to keep a clean image with regards to steriods ever since the major trial in 1994, and of course after the death of the legendary Eddie Guerrero. They claim that Benoit passed a drugs test in April and that he has had no history of illegal steriod abuse. However, the leading investigator has not ruled it out, and stated that there was 'lots' of prescription drugs located throughout the Benoit household. But i disagree with your statement that Benoit still rocks. Whether he was suffering from depression, under the side effects of steriod abuse or anything like that, it is no way in hell an excuse to kill your wife and your child. And that is putting my statement lightly. |

What's interesting about this is that the WWE are clearly shitting themselves that this will reflect badly on them, and they have released rather chilling details to protect themselves. E.g: "The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death." That is a quote directly from the WWE website. There's something terribly clinical about referring to her as 'the wife'. They go into detail about the murder scene, to an extent that I actually wouldn't have thought they legally would have been allowed to. All because they don't want people thinking that this could have anything to do with steroids. |
.DeaconJohn. 27.06.2007 12:20 |
Here is the statement in full, for anyone who is interested: World Wrestling Entertainment is stunned and saddened by the details released by local authorities concerning the double homicide-suicide involving Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and his son, Daniel. However, WWE is concerned with the sensationalistic reporting and speculation being undertaken by some members of the media following the press conference held by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and the District Attorney. During the press conference, the investigating authorities made the following points, all of which run contrary to the media speculation that "roid rage" was a factor in the senseless murders and suicide: 1. The authorities stated that all drugs found in the house were believed to be legal prescriptions. 2. Steroids were not, and could not, be related to the cause of death (asphyxiation). Authorities had no factual basis to speculate as to Benoit’s state of mind, and rightly did not do so. 3. Toxicology tests have not even been completed, so there is no current evidence that Benoit even had steroids or any other substance in his body. In that regard, on the last test done on Benoit by WWE's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007, Benoit tested negative. 4. The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage. 5. WWE strongly suggests that it is entirely wrong for speculators to suggest that steroids had anything to do with these senseless acts, especially when the authorities plainly stated there is no evidence that Benoit had steroids in his body, pending the toxicological reports, and that they had no evidence at this time as to the motive for these acts. WWE is continuing to monitor the ongoing investigation being conducted by local authorities. |

This is a very chilling incident in the world of sports entertainment...hell, not just sports entertainment. This has hit a lot of people that aren't even wrestling fans. Personally this hits me hard too. I've been a wrestling fan since I was about 5. My dad and I used to watch it a lot, and ever since my dad's death in 2000, I still watch it. It's sad to know that one of the best wrestlers of this day and age is now gone...but I will say it is quite shocking how it all happened. He did murder his wife and son, unfortunately, but there isn't too much else that has been confirmed. That article from The Sun...bullshit. It's been known that Chris Benoit has tested negative for steroids and other drugs, especially since the wellness program began a couple of years back. Benoit also has no history of steroid use, so why do people still say it was steroids that caused all this? Now, it is said that his son suffered from Fragile X Syndrome, which affects the victim physically and mentally. Benoit was most likely devastated by the fact that his son was incapacitated like this...but perhaps he couldn't take it. I mean, anyone can snap or lose it, but maybe the angst and the pain got the best of him. I don't know. I'm no investigator or anything, I'm just saying what others are probably saying too. It doesn't matter how it happened, when it happened, and what will happen afterwards. The fact remains the same: Chris Benoit is gone. I don't care what others say about his personal life. Every time he stepped into a wrestling ring, he was one of the most professional and admired wrestlers in recent years. what escapes me is...why did he have to go do something like this? |
