Sorry - this post might already exist in some other form somewhere else on the site but I'm just feeling too darn lazy to search. I'm just curious how Queenzoners are feeling about purchasing this upcoming release given Brian's touting (in the Soapbox) of the quality of the engineering work going into its re-release. I think the quality of the official releases to date has been very strong for the most part. I'll probably cave in for that reason alone. |

I was originaly very mad about it and thought this is going to be only a crappy re-release of the same stuff again, but now I'm very excited, because the sound is going to be correct (I hope they do something with the audience, they were actually REALLY loud ), and I'm escpecially looking forward to the bonus disc :) But hell, we need Hammersmith 75&79, or Houston, or Earls Court or whatever MUCH more than another 80s show. |

It's so disapionting, after all these years still no 70's release and still no Information about what is in the Archives... I don't get it, is it Greg or QP who are ignoring the wishes of the fans, other companys (or Archivists ;-) please their fans with rare recording made official. Maybe Greg should speak to Simon Robinson (Deep Purple's Archivist) about how to make it right! But I'm gonna buy the Montreal Show anyway, only have the brasilian release, so it will be an upgrade! |

For me...my Pioneer version is okay! I think 90% of the extra's on the Qp version, on disk two, are in my possesion anyway. Same with Milton Keynes. The DVD (1) was an upgrade but disk 2 was crap. Highlights: Live in Japan'. LMAO! Copy of the laserdisc put on DVD. Brazillian techniques?! They could have done a lot more. Full New Haven '82 footage (calling all girls, AOOBTD) + full interview etc. Anyway... to answer your question....NO, not for me! |

No, the new disc coming, we all know, is going to feature something different and exciting on the extras. What it is, I have no idea. But I don't remember Brian talking about the extras on the MK dvd in the same way. So, I'd like to base things in fact, only. We've all seen this kind of attitude from when it was initially announced, i.e. people damning it before it's even begun. And now, with every bit of news coming out, we can start to form a picture of what it could be. And the last thing we need is for someone to pre-judge it...again. Adam. |

QP decides what concerts they will release anyway... All those years hoping on a seventies concert like the Hammy 79 or Houston 77 are wasted time. How many polls, treads and stories we put here on Queenzone in the past 5 years....!Queenman!! wrote:First, the MK dvd is the MK dvd. Nothing to do with this upcoming one. Who said you couldn't have an opinion? Nobody. And I don't know what GB has to do with this discussion. You say we're allowed to speculate, but you've just gone and said the upcoming extras will be like the MK dvd! Not much speculation going on there at all. If you want to be really analytical about it you'll understand why it's up in the air. The extras on previous releases have been nice, but never made out to be anything amazing. However, with this disc everything's getting (according to Brian NOT GB) good treatment. Even moreso when you read Brian's post about the extras. He said they were going with the Saturday Night Live performances but have decided on something "...a lot more exciting!" My point was, he's never said anything like that about previous dvd releases. And when Brian gets excited and talks about things being cleaned up and rescued, he talks good sense. He did the same when talking about Teo Torriatte on the Jewels2 release and rightfully so, it was a very nice sounding extra. Or the dvda's he talked about in a similar way, they too were very good. Can I just ask, were you for or against this re-release? By the talk of 70's releases and GB talk, I could guess you're not! Adam. |

My kids and their kids will probably care less about Queen. I'd like to see the footage while I'm still alive. |
Mr.Jingles 21.06.2007 15:03 |
I think Queen should do something similar to what Led Zeppelin did with 'How The West Was Won'. I know most shows from the 70s lack the entire footage of the show, so instead of that why not make a compilation of songs performed live from different shows. |
Josh Henson 21.06.2007 15:45 |
I would rather have a new Rare Live with compliation footage or just release the damn Houston 77, Earls court or Hammy 75 or 79 shows. Who cares if you can't put them in surround sound or whatever. It's better than nothing and QP and Brian need to understand that before it's too late. Think about what they've released live: *Live Killers - 1979 stuff (love it, but it's missing 4 songs and the sound mix isn't too great) *Live Magic - 1986 stuff (butchered to hell) *Live at Wembley '86 - very good *MK - 1982 - very good *Q+PR - sheffield 2005 - good w/ NO BONUS material *Montreal 1981 again... So far, they've missed the mark with 70's material or good bonus stuff, in my opinion. Let's face it Queen were far better in the 70's with their live shows, material, stage presence, etc. Lets see some of that shit officialy released! |

Adam.Adam, Maybe Greg works for QP and has an influence as archiver what's going to be on the DVD as bonusdics. Anyway, this makes no sense to maybe for you. When Brian says it's gonna be spectacular you have a point by saying: Let's wait and see. But this has happend always... we wait and get always the same things. Look what other people say about this. I'm not the only one who feels being tricked over the last years. No hard feelings! |

Get it now! It is my favorite concert ever. OK, so maybe they used a track from the previous night a couple of times. You can see this during the performance of "Killer Queen," for instance. Who cares? It is magnificent. In fact, I actually prefer the version of "Somebody to Love" here to that at the "Live at the Bowl" concert, which some people on this site say is their favorite live performance. Freddie probably also never looked hotter (I don't know if you care). I cannot wait to see the new improvements! |

I'm dissapointed that only a few members (I am one) are excited about seeing Queen in High Definition for the very first time. Reminds me of a few year back when NATO DVD-A was released and Queen in DTS 5.1 for teh first time and the lack of interest on this forum back then. Oh well, that' the 'YouTube/mp3 generation' for you! Anyway, what's the guessing that it's an October or November release? QPs favourite months of the year. |

It's worth buying depending on how you value it. If you can live with the old Mobilevision releases and that gives you a sense of the show, probably not worth it. If you want to hear it more complete and with a better picture, go for it. As far as waiting to see what the extras are, there's always a wait and see feeling, then the inevitable feeling of disappointment when the extras are viewed. QP has lost the confidence of lots of buyers over the past few years. |

I think QP might actually realise that they need to do something special to get the fans to purchase this again though. And - yes - the crowd needs to be woken up in this one to really see a difference. |
