I've been in the background for some time now and thought it was time to post something and say hi.
There isn't a day that goes by that I don't crave to hear the great voice of Freddie Mercury or learn something about him. I'm not sure what's gotten into me and what sets him apart from my other favorites. I usually can't stand to listen to the same tune repeatedly but a Queen song is a different story. It's like walking through a storybook. I hear something different everytime I listen to their music. The songs are so emotionally connecting you feel Freddie is sitting right next to you. Is this the way you see the music? Maybe I need help. I'm addicted to Queen!
You are just a normal Queen fan, probably. It is addictive. Why do our brains get addicted to certain music? Probably some expert here would know. I think you are lucky.
Exactly what it happened with me,till about three years it not can the Sun goes down without I don't listen Freddie's voice. It's impossible to tire of it,is not exist more amazing voice like his.
Don't worry, enjoy it!!! We are lucky to have him.
It is a great feeling, actually. The songs are great. I remember when I listened only to Queen, like 15 years ago or something (I'm 25, btw).
Right now I rarely listen to Queen. Only some bootlegs from time to time, the new ones I get, etc. I have had stages like this before and I always go back to Queen after a while. I think that I enjoy them more when I do that, when I listen to them after many days.
I enjoy when I see someone else discovering Queen or when a friend of mine tells me that he loves "Innuendo", "It's a Hard Life" or other Queen songs apart from the usual overplayed hits. Or like the other day that I catched "I'm going slightly mad" on the radio, as the last of 3 Queen songs in a row. That was weird but cool.
I rarely listen to Queen now but they are an important part of my life. My friends know me for dropping the odd line of Queen trivia every now and then and remembering that I'm still a Queen geek, haha :).

Know the feeling well. I am addicted to Queen as well, I have tried to think of why Queen in particular is addictive to my mind but I have never been able to pin point it. The best reason is the harmonies and the Red Special sound, plus my utter and undying love and admiration for Freddie. I think it is the grandure that comes through in Queens music, particularly at certain points, like in 'It's A Hard Life', the song changes pace in the middle section and then Brian May blasts out some chords, it just sounds great. Unfortunatley none of my friends share my love of Queen (infact look at them as a novelty), some like the major hits, WWRY, WATC, Crazy Little Thing, I Want to Break Free. I think that this is because the only radio station that actually plays the older songs (or even any good ones) only plays WWRY or WATC (and not very often). But thankfully I have Queen zone. And I don't think I will ever work out what is so adictive about Queen, and maybe thats a good thing.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings
Take Care!
It's nice to hear input of other people's feelings towards this topic.
On another note... I was sitting in my office one day and someone mentioned how they couldn't stand Queen, another agreed and I was so shocked I didn't know what to say. Of course neither knew my love for the band but now after the fact I kick myself for not defending them. I ask myself periodically what would have been my comment. What would your comment have been?

I've been in this kind of situation so many times. A few days ago I was talking to an older gentleman who noticed my News of the World T-shirt. He commented that I was into the right time period, but I could do better than Queen. My immediate comment was of course "yeah right."
However, now that I look back upon that moment I realize that he had his opinion and I had mine. None of us should really care about anybody elses smart ass remark. In fact, next time I'm not going to even make a big deal about it. So what if somebody says they "dislike" or "despise" Queen. As long as I love the band that's all that matters. All of us here on Queenzone seem to understand just how special Queen were, so in the end don't let it bother you.
Also, let us not forget that there are not only Queen fans, but there are die hard Judas Priest fans and extreme Beethoven fans out there. Do we understand their obsession? I certainly don't. I'm sure we look weird to some people too...I mean...if you're a guy walking around with Freddie Mercury on your chest you're bound to get the sly comment every now and then...I know I do.
I'm done rambling.

Usually that's the reaction of people who have only heard their hits, not their early albums all the way through. If I'd only heard their Greatest Hits I don't know if I'd get what the big deal is either.

The whole reason I got into Queen was because of their "greatest hits." I heard them on the radio and thought "these guys are talented."
Believe it or not I then purchased Queen's Greatest Hits (the red one) and fell in love with their music immensly. Afterwards I collected all of their albums one by one for about four years. Today I'm proud to say I've completed my collection and have obtained all of their albums including some BBC recordings.
It's so annoying, when you're playing Queen's songs to somebody, and she/he just says:
"Well, quite nice, but nothing special. Not to my taste... blah.... blah.." In that way.
I felt like I would shake her till she gets some sense to her head (when my friend said those words)! Luckily I could calm down and didn't start to shout at her or anything =D
oh my..... everything!... music for me is part of my life, it´s an important part of my day to day... with songs i can take out all my feelings: anger, happiness, confussion, love, lack of love, etc....
I can express almost everything, must of all, when i can find the right words to express a thought or feeling...
I loooove music!
