Hallo! I've decided to make a full catalog of the books about Freddie & Queen, but I've got one problem now: you can easily find the year, when the book was released, but there's no any information about the order, the'd appeared in one year. Don't mind me paranoic:-) but I think, it's important too. So, could you tell me, what appeared first: As it Began or The New Visual Documentary? Or Jimm's book maybe? What was the order there? Jimm writes that a lot of people asked him about his book when Freddie died - so, does it mean, that he was the first? I'll be really appreciate for your help!
The original Visual Documentary came out in late 1986.
It was updated in late 1991 - there is an edition pre-November with all four on the cover. However it was then re-updated (ie a page of press cuttings from Nov 25 was added, and the pic of Freddie was enlarged to fill the whole cover) extremely hurriedly.
So that was probably first.
Next was another picture book, possibly called A Kind Of Magic.
From memory, the first biography released was Rick Sky's The Show Must Go On, with As It Began following much later (I think the former was '92, the latter was at least '93). Mercury & Me was years later (at least the way I remember it), followed eventually by all sorts...Laura Jackson (twice), Peter Freestone, "Queen - The Early Years" et al.
does link give the same year of publication for Mercury & Me, New Visual Documentary, and As It Began? I'd be surprised...

Mercury & Me is not on there yet, but the New Visual Documentary is listed as 1991 and As It Began 1992. That may be incorrect but they were the years that I found while adding these books.
Thanks, Penetration_Guru. Of cource, before I've asked you, I've looked through a lot of web-sites, and Queenpedia too. But in Queenpedia's bibliography there are no anbooks about Freddie himself - only about Queen. And yes, it says that The New Visual Documentary and As It Began both were released in '92, (and Mercury &Me in the same year). And it's really difficult to understand which book followed to which. But thank you anyway!

They are listed as 1991 and 1992.
Look up the books on amazon, they will usually give you the release date.
Wow! That's really interesting! I've knew that different sources give different information, but not for 2 years:-) I might 've been really wrong! ))
sites are really great. thanks for your patient ))).
How wrong was I...
I've updated the Queenpedia page fully, using my own copies for date reference.
I confirmed my own memory that the Ross Clarke book was out first (as it was published in 1991), and remain confident that Rick Sky got his tacky little tome out before As It Began, although I still have no proof.
Mercury & Me was indeed later though,, and I found my pre-death New Visual Documentary.
