Mr Mercury 06.06.2007 14:14 |
This paragraph is from this month's Powerplay magazine, which I thought you lot might like to read. Apart talking about his new DVD/CD he had this to say about the last tour with Queen. Here it is...... While speaking of the buzz from playing live, Paul spoke about what it was like to tour with Queen as the front man. “It was wild and crazy!” laughed Paul. “It was awesome, actually. It was like sitting on a rocket going about a million miles an hour. It was great and I really enjoyed it. It was dangerous as well, as we weren’t sure how we would be received. We only knew that it felt good what we were doing. When we first played together on a TV show in England, it felt good and that was the driving force behind it.” “Initially Brian and Roger wanted to do fifty percent of their material and fifty percent of mine, but I felt that they hadn’t toured and this was a Queen / Paul Rodgers tour and because they hadn’t toured in such a long time the audience would be looking for a Queen heavy set, so that’s what we made it. So there were some of my songs and a lot of theirs. It was a huge learning curve for me because I didn’t just want to sing the songs by rote, I really wanted to get inside them and interpret them as myself. Things like ‘The Show Must Go On’, which I loved to sing and that’s a song that they hadn’t actually, because of the circumstances, ever played live. So that was virgin territory for me to step on, onstage with that song. And ‘I want To Break Free’ as well, was a challenge,” chuckled Paul. “And I saw that song as having a great message, as I think it is probably safe to say everybody has wanted to break free at some time in their life, so they can relate to that” |

Wonderful. It's lovely to hear Paul say such kind (and true) words about our favorite band. This man certainly has respect for Queen and what they were, and I think that he lends a beautiful voice to Queen and what they are now. Long live Queen + Paul Rodgers! |

Fuck Paul Rodgers and his ass kiss fest. I love how you people still call it Queen. Just to let the real "LOYALIST" know I had a ticket placed right in the palm of my hand by a very good friend when they was over here in the states and was gonna play the MCI Center in Washington D.C. and I handed it right back and said NO WAY because even though I never saw Queen live I would not go see something half assed. They stopped touring here in 82 (I was only 5) so I can live with missing out on seeing them as A WHOLE. Some people will settle for anything.......PEACE |

Reactionaries who live in the past, and can't accept that good music is possible without a Mr. Freddie Mercury too. |

I certainly learned one thing about Paul(apart from his musical talent)and that is that he is a fantastic guy. I'm really proud of what they did. It gave me the chance to see Roger and Brian together. It was an incredible moment for me to hear the Red Special live and to experience the wonder that is Roger singing and drumming(i'm in love with my car was certainly a highlight for me!)I feel a deep respect for Paul, he rocks. People should respect him for what he is, not ignore or even 'hate' him for what he's not. |

Who turns down a free Q+PR ticket? With the odds of seing Brian perform in the US again? Let alone Roger... 2. If a good friend thought of YOU to go to a show with, what kind of friend does that make you? |

There were minor sound problems in the beginning...but from "Fat Bottomed Girls" on...it was awesome. You're retarded for turning down a free ticket to see Queen and Paul Rodgers live. You're entitled to your opinion despite the fact that I completely disagree with you. But you need to quit living in the past, and stop being such a douche bag. |

Most people would have seen my post about getting used to Paul Rodgers. I don't like him singing some songs, but he brings some new things to others. The most important thing to remember, is that the new albulm would be made with Pauls style taken into account, and I think that the music will be great, but most of all I am just happy that Brian and Roger are still making music, and if they go on tour, it would be great to see them for the first time. Who the fuck turns down a free ticket to a good rock show, regardless of the band, the singer, or any stupid thing like that? What a fucktard. |

I think people have to look at this as a new band, yes they maybe called Queen but they have + paul rodgers, they have to keep the queen name because well thats who they are! just plus another singer, who i think has done a great job for queen in the past and hopefully the future! For those of you who don;t like it fine thats their own opinon, we can't change that, thats what they think. For me i think they should keep the Queen + paul rodgers name, i think hes doing an awesome job, and when i saw them in hyde park 05, they looked great together really worked, but not only that, they were smiling and enjoying it! they still enjoy music and still enjoy the buzz of a live crowd, what rite do we have to say STOP! I hope it continues, and for those who don;t have anything decent to say, dont say it! if you dont like the topic, the new queen or paul rodgers fine but theres no need to make it in to a war of words. cheers |
