I'm not the hugest Beatles fan YET, and I'm broke, so unfortunely I do not have this album. Regardless, Lucy in the Sky and A Day in the Life are two WONDERFUL songs, and I thought to commemorate the 40th aniversary of the release of this album, we could have an official thread. Here you go, and I hope this doesn't tick Tessa off too much. But the Beatles are just slightly better than the Stones... |

YAY!!!!! i love this album, and i have it! i haven't removed the cardboard cut-outs. i'm not inclined to cut it. :P my favorite not-so-known Sgt. Pepper's song is Fixing A Hole.. :P |

The Rolling Stones are "ok." There is nothing special about them at all. The Beatles, on the other hand, are the world's greatest rock band and nobody can beat them! Not even Queen, and they've admitted it. |

WEEE! I love this album. My favorite song on it would have to be either She's Leaving Home orrrrr Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. I love the Beatles so much! ^_^ |

I personally like Revolver and Magical Mystery Tour a little bit better. |

... while the White Album is my favorite. But this was a good one and a fun album cover. I've never known anyone to get 'em all without peeking. |

The first few times I heard this one (I heard most albums for the first time just a few weeks ago, except for the White Album), the White Album remained as my fav, but nowadays it's Sgt Pepper's, definitely. The Beatles _O_ About the Rolling Stones thing... The RS are just a good band, The Beatles are The Beatles! |

*sigh* I had a funny feeling I'd never win THAT debate. Still one of the two is still rocking, rolling and attracting massive crowds forty years on from when they began and it ain't the Beatles. And Charlie Watts is at least a more technically proficient drummer than Ringo but someone's gonna contradict me on that too aren't they? :P As for Sgt. Pepper I happen to love Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds as well as Within You Without You. And the title track. |
Mr.Jingles 01.06.2007 12:48 |
The reason why The White Album is not my fav is that while most of the songs are some of the best songs The Beatles have ever written, there's a few of them that are so horrendous that they might have as well left them off the album. |

I always found the Beatles a tad bit overrated. I prefer the Stones. It depends on your musical taste, really. The Stones have been blues babies for half their lifetime. I think the Beatles are a bit too 'pop' but I do respect them and like many of their songs. The Beatles weren't that talented as musicians...Ringo? Mediocre drummer. John? Horrible guitarist...the only talented people in the Beatles, IMO were Harrison and McCartney and I HATE the latter. McCartney was easily the better songwriter between Lennon and McCartney while Harrison was the best among his group with his instruments. Paul was okay with bass, much better than Lennon was with guitar. I hate how people obsess over Strawberry Fields Forever and Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds to "prove" Lennon's apparent songwriting talent. "YO HO HO I KIN RAIT SYKODELIK MYOOZIK AFTER DOIN' DROOGZ YEEEEEEEEYYAYEYAYE I'M SUNGRAITER OV DEE SENCHOOREE". Lennon was a much better person that McCartney, agreed. More people like him nowadays, agreed as well. But you must admit that it's because of the tragic circumstances of his death. If he was still alive today, he would've become just as obscure as Ringo. |

I think Lennon became so up his own arse in the Seventies. I actually think Paul's as nice as mega-famous people come. |

Wow... forty years. It's awesome to see that people are still buying that record after all this time! And on the topic of favorite Beatles, George has always been mine. |

Sgt Pepper's not my fav album, but it's good to hear. Mine's are right now Abbey Road, Revolver and Rubber Soul. |

I have never really liked Sgt Pepper as much as all the hype. I think John wrote better songs than Paul though although granted Paul wrote some classics but IMO he wrote more stinkers than John and I'm not just talking Beatles but afterwards. Some of those Wings records were truly awful. Just me but I could listen to an album of Lennon's solo stuff more than McCartney's. |

Sgt. Pepper is a little overrated.... but well worth it for the Lennon compositions, I think - and definitely George Martin's handiwork across the board. Personally I always thought Revolver was the bigger standout piece of work. The White Album would've made a great single album, I think... it, along with Let It Be, just feels unfinished. |
