Queen T 25.05.2007 10:16 |
Thanks! It did sound like a loop...but very nice. Now somebody tell me, what the big deal is with the song (aside from it being coveted by traders who hug it to their chests so tight nobody can pry it apart for the sheer fact that they have it, nobody else does, because they decided to pay someone or trade another huge "rarity" for it). I mean, what is a "rarity" really? In the end, we can't take these songs with us to our graves, so what are you gonna do with the song(s) then? Will them to somebody? Come on...be real about it. If anybody were to appreciate such songs, it is the fans that come on boards such as QZ day in and day out to share, appreciate, and chat about their love of Queen. Hell, if I had songs and things I knew true manic fans didn't have, I'd be honored to share them as you've all been so gracious. Seems a big stigma is attached to this song but for what reason? I mean, could have been that all the other demos from the Innuendo and Miracle album, such as Secret Fantasy or Fiddly Jam, are just as special. I'd love to hear the whole song, but judging from all these tireless Face it Alone threads, I doubt that will ever happen... |
Mr Faron Hyte 25.05.2007 10:33 |
that was lovely. thanks to everybody who had a part in disseminating this snippet to those of us in the unwashed masses. i appreciate it. |
Nummer2 25.05.2007 11:11 |
Funny, the 154. thread about Face it Alone, and the first time it's no hoax, request or bullshit – at least no complete bullshit. It's a nice tune, I'd have loved to hear it as a fully developed song on Innuendo, instead of Delilah, for instance ;-) Now it has leaked, why not share the complete demo? Oh shit, now it's a request again ... |
brianmayniac 25.05.2007 11:20 |
mmmmm....is this the real Face it alone???? anyway...though this snippet is 1:53 minutes long...it's just 22 seconds looped 'til the end... so we have just 22 secs of a song which should be 10 min long.... :-S |
August R. 25.05.2007 11:37 |
THANKS! Nice to hear this one really exists. I was actually thinking that Face it Alone is just a wet dream for hard-core Queen fans :) And now can start fantasising about the complete version... Sounds very nice, even if it's just 22secs. Makes me wonder why it wasn't used on MIH. From what I just heard, it would have suited the atmosphere of that album perfectly and the guys wouldn't have had to recycle all those old songs. |

it's not a fake???? are you all sure.... I think it's a fake....it has the typical sound of the fan fake... piano and drums don't have the same rythm... it's strange... and I don't hear the noise of people...though this song comes from a convention recording... a bit strange...isn't it??? |

Call me cyncial... 1. Why would whoever let CD have this get their knickers in a twist over a 22 second loop? 2. How would the person that CD *appears* to be get something that....inaccessible? I'm not saying specifically that there's fakery going on, but you know how you get a feel for the level people's collections are at by the kind of things they post...? 3. I can't get too excited by 22 seconds that contains little if any melody or lyric. Saying it could have got onto MiH based on that is hyberbole...unless whoever said that has heard more of this... |
CD 25.05.2007 16:57 |
Okay. I am clearing everything up. A friend who lives near me (geograhically) told me not to upload the song as part of the agreement of him giving it to me. I spoke to him and convinced him to allow me upload it. Then he said no and then yes again. IT IS NOT FAKE. Also could you please be grateful that someone finally gave you a bit of Face it alone. Be Thankful. Also it is only a part of a demo. Not a complete song but a rough demo as this is supposedly (not sure) rcorded 2 days before freddie's death. RIP Freddie. |

Hell, if someone wants to ask me for something (in case I have it), go right ahead...I'd love to share. Come to think of it, I was merely asking a question too about why the song became so coveted (which isn't because Freddie recorded it "2 days" before his death...I'm afraid he was probably in a grave state in his bed...would it not be from the Innuendo sessions?)which you clearly skirted around.TigersEye wrote: Now somebody tell me, what the big deal is with the song (aside from it being coveted by traders who hug it to their chests so tight nobody can pry it apart for the sheer fact that they have it, nobody else does, because they decided to pay someone or trade another huge "rarity" for it). Yah, Zeb! Thanks for letting me hear this weeks ago! I must admit it's a baffling piece of the song to listen to. I too heard the looped nature of it, but even though it was obvious(!), I did wonder if it was just roughly looped in the studio to get some vocal and guitar jam ideas going. But I guess the way the hi-hat goes wayyy out of sync is a pretty clear sign it was someone elses' idea to loop it. I had hope! Anyway, yeah, can't wait to hear this song in full, someday. And for the "deleted" guy... you're a cog wheel in the system of what brings these things to the masses. Yaaayy and neeeyyy to ya. Basically cause I kind of equate that to someone who manufactures something that leads its way to us, the consumers. We're thankful, but don't feel the need to praise you. Do you really need the recognition of what you do? To be seen and heard by us here? Adam. |

Go ahead and bash me, but the post I quoted is 100% correct. If a certain dozen or so Queen collectors stopped getting new material, then the sharing of new material here would come to a grinding halt. Also, look at it this way: If it wasn't for collectors, people here would still be talking about how nice it would be to hear Flick Of The Wrist and White Man performed live one day when Queen officially released them, and Greg Brooks would be the only source of finding out which shows those songs were played at. Anyone shuddering yet? :) |

oh my god, that's the reason why nobody wants to upload rare songs, - because there are so many unthankful people here. even if we upload the whole song and our whole collection, you will be disappointed or call it fake, - so why should we share with you? for me, who paid some money for it, the songs have a meaning and have value. but for everyone, who just want to download them like a gratis windows driver, they are just demos, and of course you can't compare them with the quality of other queen songs, but you would do so, and again be disappointed. it's very kind of CD that he/she wants to share what he has in hope that others also begin to share, a very nice gesture i appreciate, but i would have never done like this, because this is not the right community, here are so many persons who aren't worth to give or share with them anything for free. |

The nagging for more rariies is pointless and counterproductive. There are relatively few lengendary raries left in the trading community. You can not expect everything to be shared. The amount of demos shared in the last few years dwarfs whatever remains in the trading community. You really can not expect the top dog traders to share themselves completely out of existance ... I am happy with the 22 second sample. Why are so many people demanding more when they already have 95%+ of what is known to be available? |

See now... someone *ahem* sent me this sample a month or two ago without any warning, 'n' I never uploaded it because I didn't want to cause a fuss. I did however plant bits of it in both a Youtube video and a halfwitted mp3 (designed to piss off theCro) just to see if people would believe it was Face it Alone or not. Moot, in any case.... I'm glad it's out in the open. This is all a very good laugh. :) |

But once they've leaked, they no longer have collectible value. So, if you share your rare stuff, what will you give someone when you're offered something rare? If some people can't understand this concept, that's not any collector's fault. It's been like this for decades. It certainly didn't start with Queen collectors! Even if it means you would never get any more rarities? No. Listen to how excited all of you get over a 22 seconds sample of Face It Alone. Everybody is dying to hear unreleased recordings. Nobody would risk to break his access to rarities by sharing an MP3 with others. |

Well, it´s the old discussion again. I respect both sides, but as i said in the past my view is that there´s nothing that special or valuable in music in general for people to behave like that! SirGH is an exception among others and i really recognize (and said so in his posts) that he spends too much time searching for the best and sharing it with us. I really appreciated, but the reason he spends too much time negotiating and sometimes not getting anywhere is because he´s dealing with die hard collectors and not with someone like me ; ) Let me explain: I started to collect Queen Vinyls for some time now, and i think i have some "valuable things" that i will never guive them to anybody, or sell them. But let´s say i own a very rare Queen single and the only way for people to hear this is to buy the single. In this case i would provide an mp3 or Flac for free. I would still have what´s valuable for me wich is the Single. Someone from Queenzone started a trade with me (i will not say his name) and he asked me for how much he could ask. I said ask everything you want, if i have it i will send the stuff to you and then you send the stuff i want plus the blanks DVD´s. So, i´ve send him 28 DVD´s worth material and he´ve sent me about half plus the blank DVD´s. I was totally honest with what i´ve got and he was totally honest with what he´s got, and instead of loosing time "negotiating" we just made our list and trade what we got. Man, ´he has sent me wondefull DVD´s that if i was a die hard collector i was never going to obtain because when you close yourself behind what you´ve got people get tired and close themselves too! This, in my opinion it´s not the best situatuion. So, within one month i´m with 18 new DVD´s of Queen related stuff (wonderfull stuff) and he´s with 30 new Queen DVD´s stuff. To me, this is more fun and enjoyable than the time consuming trades. I´m gonna say this: if i was the guy who recorded this from the convention i would: 1. Share it with you the next day (for free), or; 2. respect Greg Brooks request for not recording and don´t share it with anyone; because people often talk about blacklists, and integrity of traders, and so on, but what is there to say about a song wich wasn´t meant to be recorded on a convention, had the trader with "integrity" respected Greg Brooks request and even taking the risk to prejudice future conventions at the risk of Jim Beach don´t guive permission to anymore rare demos? My point is: people make big deal about things with no meaning AT ALL! Take care |

A demo from 1990 from the Innuendo sessions. It's one of the longer demos, because this one has a running time of 10 minutes. It's something like a three-piece demo. |
banana-wig 18038 26.05.2007 20:18 |
Thanks 'Tiger'. I had an idea it was from Innuendo sessions, however what made me curious is that Freddie's voice sounds more in the 'Miracle' vein with FIA. I.e. He really had an unique sound with Innuendo (perhaps due to illness?) and in this snippet his voice is full as with the 'Miarcle'. NOt doubting it is from Innuendo, just an observation. |

No, not realy. If I made you get that impression that was the wrong one. I have nothing against CD (at all!) nor his friend. Nor HIS friend nor HIS friend etc... Neither do I have any problem in FIA being shared in here AT ALL. But don't ask ME to share it because I am not allowed to do so. See, I once got this song by promising my donor NOT to share it. As I am a man of my word, I WON'T! Unless my donor tells me I am allowed to. Simple as that. What I was referring to is someone else. Someone else that turned out to be a man of NOT keeping his word. I won't bother you with the details, but there is something, a sound, in this snippet -unaudiable for one that does not know what to hear- that actually prove that to me. The person I am referring to IS on this board. What I posted was meant for THIS person. To let him know that I know. It was obviously THIS person that CD referred to that was pissed off because of him posting this snippet. Because he KNEW that I would with this find out that he lied to me and blew his relationship with me. Hope this was enlightening enough. And the retaliation? In life in general: If someone lies to you, if someone cheats on you, if someone misuses your trust - would you just say 'ah well' and just go on like nothing happened?brianmayniac wrote: can somebody tell me why are you all so sure that this is not a fake???It is likely authentic, considering that Jeroen is promising retaliation against CD and his friend. It is the same old story - 1. Very rare song or concert is leaked. 2. Top dog traders are outraged and threaten retaliation (blacklisting). This time the mortal sin is over a 22 second sample from a 10 minute song. As you did not share the snippet of FIA with CD's friend, I do not see how you could be really upset with CD's friend. The trader who shared FIA with CD's friend is the person who should be upset (if the trader gave instuctions not to share FIA). However, only 22 second mp3 snippet of a 3 part, 10 minute song. To me, CD's friend's crime is only a misdemeaner as nothing even approaching the full version was shared. I do not see how FIA's trading value would be decreased by this snippet. I would think that this snippet would whet appetites, and increase the number of people wanting to trade for it. I hope CD's friend will be allowed a chance for redemption, and I hope the inner trading circle will not ban him for life without a chance for parole. |

Communism says everybody gets everything he needs. The main problem (why communism can never work in real life) is that people have different needs. I know Im just adding to a pointless conversation, but to get this off my chest,.... ohh well. To the people that have this or any other rare recording, I know it doesnt have to be said, but keep it and dont share it till the time is right and you feel it alright. To the people that dont have much or anything rare (myself included) please leave these people alone. Look at this site, there is so much fantastic video and audio shared on nearly a weekly basis. Be happy you got to hear the sample that was provided. And be happy with everything you have gotten from this site and other generous traders. Unless you just joined this site in the past 5 mins, you have gotten something you didnt have. I know I have added a handful of DVDs and many many cds already. I know it wont really matter what I just said, people are still request in the announce forum, people are still gonna bitch that others wont share the rare stuff, and some people will still think Coke is better Pepsi (even though they are wrong) ... thats life. Just deal with it and leave these people alone or you may never see something like this. |

Incredible.
Even though it's very unfinished and a loop, it sounds fantastic.
Very melodic.
OK, after reading some of the posts in this topic, I need to address MrScully's point.

If I had to choose between being a "fucking collector" and having the intelligence of Enoughforme... I think my choice would be obvious. It's always like this. Somebody posts a track (or a sample or whatever) and most people just keep on bitching and whinning. They download it for free but they want more. They have downloaded probably 100 demos from QueenZone in the past year, yet they insist they desperately NEED the 101st one and if they don't get it soon, it will be unfair and it's fault of collectors. They complain about how cruel life is, how the fucking collectors don't want to trade with them etc. etc. Sometimes I wonder why the generous people post anything in this forum at all - because there are so many ungrateful leechers here... |

This topic is still going? The amount of material shared lately on QZ is much higher than it has been in years. Hopefully, the demands for the full version of FIA will soon cease, before any damage is done to the positive sharing atmosphere on QZ. So much new or improved material has been shared in the last year or so. The sharers / collectors should be thanked occasionally for the large volume they do share rather than always be subjected to demands about the pittance that is not shared. Really, there should be more ass kissing on QZ than ass kicking. |
Nummer2 31.05.2007 01:17 |
Of course I don't like that pretentious, arrogant behaviour of some people here on the board (I'm not talking of the collectors – they're arrogant, too, sometimes, but they can afford it). Maybe a percentage is just based on language comprehension issues (e.g. look at my English!), but mostly it's new members of the forum who have the impression that QZ is something like another half-legal torrent portal. Search - find - grab - leave ... or bitch. What happened to the posts counter? It's a great feature to judge some posts. But here's a trick: type in the URL link and you can see the forum in its old layout – including the counter. Interesting, isn't it? |
thunderbolt 31742 31.05.2007 03:10 |
I'll try and add something constructive to this, but I give it about a 0% chance of working. I am not a trader. I am a leech at best. I keep files seeded for as long as I can, and I rarely delete torrents so that I can reseed files I have for people needing them. Even if I wanted to start trading, I couldn't. I have exactly four pieces of Queen memorabilia--two tickets, a program, and a t-shirt from the Q+PR Glendale, AZ, show, and for sentimental reasons I will never part with any of those. Of those four items, only the ticket would get me a thing right now, and that would be a CD of a common bootleg. At best. There are other ways to get into trading, sure. You can spend tons of money buying memorabilia, then trade shed loads of that for one or two uncommon items. Once you have five or so of those uncommon items, you might, *might* be able to trade them for a single rarity--assuming you could find a collector who had the rarity you were after and didn't have those items already. That's pretty much how it works. Some years ago, I was an active trader of aircraft safety cards. I think my proudest accomplishment was convincing a fellow trader that I could jack 25 safety cards from a Continental Airlines 737 in one trip, and getting him to bet me his 1980s Aeroflot Il-62 card that I couldn't. Somehow or another, I got off the plane with all 25 of those cards jammed under my jacket, and when you're a skinny 13-year-old, that's not easy! The point is, I don't like jumping through hoops for stuff that I may cherish forever, or, in the case of my still-massive collection of safety cards, may end up in an unmarked box in a parent's attic ten years after the fact. For that reason, I'm perfectly content to download whatever is shared that interests me, and if I keep it after the first couple of listens, hang onto the FLACs and seed when possible. There's stuff I'd love to hear that, because I'm unwilling to dish out tons of money for, I never will. I'd die for a copy of the studio-recorded Rock 'N Roll medley, and I'd run naked through City Hall for the multitrack recordings to Hammy '79 (so I could make digital copies before sending them back to QP, but that's beside the point). There are some rarities out there that we, as downloaders, will have to patiently wait for. FIA is one of those. There are a select few tracks/shows that the common ear will never hear. Deal with it. One of the things we as downloaders have to accept is that rarities are a necessity. If someone were to upload the studio Rock 'N Roll medley here, it's no longer usable in trades for rarities. That means that if someone comes to Sir GH, YourValentine, or Mr. Scully (assuming any of them even have that song) in a year and offers up, say, Sunbury video, that's one less item that they can offer to take a shot at another ultra-rare item. Honestly, the only thing that really, really bugs me about traders are the ones who feel the need to come into a thread regarding a share of an entirely new show (or a significantly-better version) and brag about how they have a better version than the one shared but won't/"aren't allowed" to share it. Listen, I admire your balls as much as you do, but please don't run around sticking them in other people's faces saying "LOOK! MINE ARE BIGGER!" If you're simply posting to say, "I have a better copy and will not trade/share it," go screw yourself. If you're posting to say, "I have a better copy but I'm not allowed to trade/share it," ok, congratulations, but it's still kind of smug. If, however, you're posting to say, "I have a better copy that I'm not currently allowed to trade/share, but I'm working on that and may have some good news soon," then I want to hear about it. Does this make me a selfish prick? Yeah, probably, but I've been called worse. Bottom line: rarities are a necessity for a trade market to exist. They are the 5% commodity that makes it poss |
