Brian May, Joe Walsh of The Eagles, Sammy Hagar, The Monkees' Mickey Dolenz, former Chicago vocalist Jason Scheff and 'Letterman' bandleader Paul Shaffer joined forces to jam with their legendary buddy James Burton. James Burton is a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer guitarist known for his work with Elvis Presley and Ricky Nelson, among countless other stars. The show was a benefit for his James Burton Foundation, which provides guitars and music instruction to schools, hospitals and community service organizations. The lineup also included The Imperials, Albert Lee, Steve Cropper, John Carter Cash, Chris Whitehall, T. Graham Brown, Maggie Rose and Caroline Jones. Tyler Warren was in the audience as Nashville is his home city.

The event kicked off with a spectacular opening concert entitled "Once upon a time on the Moon". Here, artists including Oscar winner Hans Zimmer, Brian May, Steve Vai or Rick Wakeman, together with the 21st Century Orchestra & Chorus, paid tribute to the unique connection between space, science and music, in the presence of several Apollo astronauts.

They were joined on stage for 'All the Young Dudes' by Queen's Brian May, The Zombies' Rod Argent and Colin Blunstone, E Street Band's Steven Van Zandt, The Bangles' Susanna Hoffs, Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera, and Mott the Hoople's Ian Hunter.
