Between 1977 and 1979 I worked at the Liverpool Empire taking tickets at the door. Queen played two nights there in 1979 (6.12 and 7.12). For both shows I was in the orchestra pit and had a fantastic view.
I remember near the end of one of the shows one of the flash units at the front of the stage fell forward and when the flash went off it didn't go staright in the air and also Freddie Mercury sprayed champagne across the first few rows of the audience and passed the half empty bottle down to me in the pit (I wish I'd kept it). Two great gigs!
