Comment
The fans were invited to a shoot of the band's new video - We Are The Champions. After the shoot (there were four mimed performances of this song) the band came back to the stage and performed a short impromptu set as a thank-you. Needless to say the setlist was very unusual. An audio recording of the whole shoot exists and despite its quite a bad quality it's an interesting "insight" into the making of one of Queen videoclips.

Fan stories
Written by Paul Holmes
Back in 1977, through the fan club, I was sent a little card inviting 900 Queen fans to the video recording of We Are The Champions. Me and my 3 mates bunked off school (getting up at 4am), making our way to the New Theatre (in Drury lane). We were in the first ten there and we waited for nine hours. But it was more than worth it. We were given the (not yet out) single on entry to the theatre, then Queen came on and went through the single 9 times (I remember just going mad waving my single and silt scalf madly).
