Hi people,
here´s another version of Under Pressure, performed by David Bowie in Toronto, Air Canada Center 2004. Running time: ca. 9 min, AVI movie, encoded from DVD with Vidomi. link
You wonder why David Bowie comes on a Queen Site?
I would like to explain:
It was presented to the whole World : Queen + PR. The return of the champions.
Does anybody really feel like that? I hope only a few.
Fact is:
No one can replace Freddie, no discussion about that.
But Paul Rodgers, a good RnR and RnB Singer, which he is, as Queen frontman?
For me it was a big mistake, the Queen Image has been pulled down.
Queen had reached an image and music level, which only a few bands were ever able to reach:
The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, and hardly any other....
Talking about the actual tour:
There was no true Return of any Champion...it was a commercial fake.
I can understand Brian and Roger, they were hot to get back on that live stage, filling up Stadiums, again,
getting that mass audience feeling again,... And I always enjoy to see them live, those two.
So, look and listen to this upload, imagine them, Brian and Roger, playing these tunes,
playing them together with Bowie and Gail Ann Dorsey.
The 2.nd track " Days" could also be ´39 from Queen, just listen and imagine that...Bowie, Gail,Brian and Roger playing ´39,
Under Pressure... and all the great music of both Bowie and Queen.
What a RETURN OF THE CHAMPIONS could this "imaginary tour" have been...
I saw both, Queen+PR in Dortmund and Cologne 2005, David Bowie in Cologne 2004.
I tell you people, those 4 would fit together, it would be phantastic to see them live on stage together,
everybody would forget about Paul Rodgers as Queen frontman (...sorry Paul-:)
Frank
Thanks for that Frank. Good version of UP. Gail is a great singer and did a good job of Freddie's parts here. By the way, to those of you who think like I did that the other song is the Queen song TATDOOL, it isnt. It is a very good song in its own right though.
Frank, where can i download the rest of this gig - or is that all there is?
Thanks for this fantastic recording! It's very welcomed here! (despite previous comment.. some assholes don't know when to either say thanks or shut the fuck up).
It's great to see how Bowie handles the song in his own shows. Really nice! And super quality!

Hi Runner70
I can understand you:
either you like or you hate Bowie. I saw him live, and I tell you, it was simply phantastic.
And I don´t know why, I always came upon Brian and Roger during that show.
For those who are interested:
I have the complete Toronto 2004 gig, and some more in same quality, like MSG New York 2003, London Astoria 1999 ( Bowie heavy on drugs...)and a few more.
There is an official dvd release of one of the shows simply called 'The Reality Tour'. Very nice concert indeed -complete with Under Pressure too.
Saw Bowie two nights in a row in Sydney for that tour and they were two of the best gigs I have ever been to- right up there with Queen (the real line up) Muse and Tool.
Oh, and any Shihad gig.
Yes, the official DVd "A Reality Tour" is almost excactly this show.
And allthough that DVD is a Pro-Shot with 8 or more cams, I prefer this bootleg DVD, filmed with only 1 cam. Much more authentic, you almost feel like being there.
