OK, thought I'd better do something as it's been a while. I've tried several times to do something with Prophet, and after a bit of fiddling about, came up with this:- link Above all, play it LOUD!! It's beefed up, and cut down to what could perhaps be called a single edit. There's some effects here and there, but most of them you probably won't hear without headphones, because when I mixed it all together, the vocal track with the effects on got slightly buried, but I think it sounds heavier than the original, and I was reasonably pleased with it. Edit:- Here's a slightly different version:- link Please comment if you download! |

Thank you for this! I like very much this version! Good work! What programmes do you use for your mix? Cheers Ale |
Lord Fickle 08.01.2006 17:48 |
A combination of Sony Soundforge, and Adobe Audition. Thanks for your comments. |

Lol, you mean you don't like the Hollywood remixes? ;) I've just put an alternative version of Prophet in the opening post, with a slightly different edit in the middle. |

I like the difference version! Great as always! :) |

Your standard mix sounds great! Thought the reverb was a bit high in the treble area. I'd have cut it down a bit. And I don't mean bring down the reverb in the mix, I mean the high shelving of the reverb effect. Though there are a couple of bad points - that's to do with the lower mids area. Sounds a bit muffled lower down in the mix at times. And there's some kind of weird sound over the vocal and sometimes other parts. Peace, Adam. P.S. Could I get the pieces that made up your mix? Or are you still doing destructive editing? |

Hi, Yet Again, Another GREAT remix from you, your Lordship. Yes I Do have to agree with Ale-Pisa, your Re-mixes ARE a lot better than some of the Hollywood re-mixes. E.g. Hollywood records remix of Bicycle Race.( what utter crap that was.) I mean don't get me wrong, some of the hollywood remixes are great, like "Tie Your Mother Down" & such, but I think, to include the "Modern Style - Remixes" on the CD's was a mistake. (I can even understand, why Hollywood chose to put them on, you know, to appeal to a younger generation.)I think subtle, is sometimes more effective, than "Right In Your Face" outlandish. So Again, I say, that your re-mixes are way better. Keep up the great work & I can't wait for your next!!! |

I've decided to listen to your alternate mix for now (it's 01:45 AM). Really like the a capella intro :-) ...I gotta say, I'm really, really liking this a lot. Unfortunately, my speakers don't allow headphones so I'm sure I'm missing some great stuff. |

And I don't mean bring down the reverb in the mix, I mean the high shelving of the reverb effect.Sorry, I don't get what you mean - are you saying there's too much treble in the reverb? That's extremely, er, 'detailed'. Can you specify where you mean? I did put a bit of high end boost across the whole thing. Adam Baboolal wrote: Though there are a couple of bad points - that's to do with the lower mids area. Sounds a bit muffled lower down in the mix at times. And there's some kind of weird sound over the vocal and sometimes other parts.Unfortunately, the centre vocal channel also contained drums and bass, so the 'muffled' bits may be something to do with over-layering the bass, perhaps? Again, can you say which part you're referring to? The 'weird sound' on the vocals was a stereo expanding effect, which sounded great on the single track, but did create a slight 'tube' effect in some parts, when mixed back into the other channels, but I didn't think it was too bad. Peace, Adam. Adam Baboolal wrote: P.S. Could I get the pieces that made up your mix? Or are you still doing destructive editing? What was the question again?? Lol! It was done by splitting the channels on the DVD-A. What bits did you want? Thanks also to the other guys for your comments! |

excellent stuff! Could you do more mixes and upload them, in my opinion they are superb (i like the reverb that you used!) Stefan |

There are several other 'Fickle' mixes on here, if you haven't already downloaded them. Doing a search for 'fickle mix' should bring them all up. I don't get so much spare time these days, so don't expect any more just yet! |

Faster? Umm.... |

Nice mix. I really like the intro. Although the original is one of my favourites from that period, it will be a nice addition to my 'Queen Rocks' compilation, without the a capella part in the middle! Thanks! |
Mr Mercury 13.01.2006 17:07 |
Lord F, I quite liked both mixes. Only thing that kind of bugged me a bit is that I still expect to hear the vocal part in the middle. But thats purely down to listening to the original all these years and not anybody's fault. Very good indeed, Simon |
Lord Fickle 13.01.2006 19:11 |
Thanks Dave! The whole idea was to remove the vocal section from the middle, as that has always kind of bugged me! I also like both mixes, but I'm more drawn towards the second one, as it seems to flow slightly better, without a long pause where the vocal section was. On the other hand, the long pause is quite dramatic, so I couldn't choose between the two, hence posting both! |
Mr Mercury 13.01.2006 19:46 |
Simon, if I had to pick between them I'd say that the second is better - but only just and mostly for the reasons you stated. Good to see your remixing juices are flowing again my friend. |

Hey Lord, I always enjoy your mixes/edits very much, thanks for your efforts! Now with Prophet's Song, what you use as the end of your mix is IMHO not an ending but a link (to LOML of course) - so I tried and made up a version using that "end" as an intro (before your a capella) which sounds pretty good! Unfortunately I'm not bright enough to upload my version of your mix but maybe I'll give it a try some day. Anyway, still like your P. S. a lot! Cheers, Mike |
Lord Fickle 19.01.2006 18:10 |
Hi, Mike! As you no doubt realised, the 'end' I used is actually the real 'end' of the track. LOML starts when the piano comes in, just after the last 'pling' of Brian's Toy Koto, which I just added a bit of delay to. It's very easy to upload your file using Rapidshare. just go to link and click Browse to navigate to your file, then click Upload, and within a few minutes, you will receive a download link, which you can then post on here. :) |

Hi Lord, it took some days, but here's what I've done with you mix (hope you don't mind ...) Cheers, Mike link |

(that should've read YOUR mix of course!) |
Lord Fickle 31.01.2006 19:07 |
Can't honestly say I think it's an improvement, Mike, but if it's how you like it, that's OK. |
