Welcome to the Queenzone.com forums. Thank you for joining us. However, to ensure that things run smoothly, there are a few guidelines we all need to: 1. If you are posting many messages in a short space of time, you are doing something wrong. Try, where possible to post one topic instead of five. 2. If you want to post stuff like "I am bored, i thought i would post a message" - then the Queen forum is not the place. Coming soon, there will a place for you write stuff when you are bored :) I get bored too, so i know how you feel! 3. Please try and post items with some substance. "How tall was Freddie" doesn't count. We want serious Queen discussion here. 4. Read the biography. Read the FAQ before posting. If you are new to Queen, that is great. I am so happy that you have come to Queenzone.com. But, posting the same "easy", obvious questions makes the board less fun for older Queenzone.com members. This board has a very open attidude to freedom of speech, and will always remain so. Following these guideliness will ensure that this board continues to offer a quality location for Queen related discussion. Thanks for your help, Richard |

Thanks Rich. I'm kinda new here, and I was hoping I wasn't witnessing the downfall of a good site for Queen fanatics. I've tried to post good topics. I think people who post bad ones just want attention... which they get plenty of! But anyway, I'm glad to see that someone is guiding this thing. :) |

Also, if Mr. Orchard does not mind, instead of "Member Since: time in memorial" or "Post Counts: 1 Bazillion", can we put "queen fan from: Boogaloosa, Tanganyika", or something similar? You know, just to know where we are from and give some leeway to those unavoidable incoherent and/or bizarre grammar. Just a suggestion... (posted in personal section as well.) |
foxxy_moron 09.01.2005 22:38 |
maybe there should a be a forum for the newbies... but who would answer them? |
Rabon_Gumm 10.01.2005 09:13 |
Maybe us newbies should be given 'L' plates like learner drivers. We get a month's grace with our 'L' plates on, and if we're up to scratch, the plates get removed and we're allowed full membership, pending insurance documents, etc. If after this time we get involved in a pile-up or what have you, then perhaps we should be taken around the back and shot. We should also have to sit a theory test.... How big was Fred's wotsit, or which Queen member had the longest nose and all that. Those that fail should be taken around the back and shot. Sorry if this sounds a bit severe, but "If you can't stand the heat, take your coat off " is what gaffer says. |

Perhaps you could say, For information about Queen, check out the following: Home Page Library Resources includes . Articles . Biography . News Archive . Newsletter . Picture Gallery . Questions and Answers Search options (3) . You can search within a forum topic by choosing the search button on the topic page. . You can search by choosing search on the home page which gives you two further choices - search on the web and search on link. Maybe someone could explain the three icons that follow the post date and time. (I had no idea what those were for.) Yes, some of us are that dumb. Perhaps someone could expand the information in Questions and Answers. I have rarely found the information there helpful. Include the Q&A for some of the tasteful "dumb" questions such as, Is Brian's hair naturally curly? How tall was Freddie? (I wondered that myself because his stage presence is so large.) Think back about what newbies have asked, and no matter how basic it was, put it in Q&A. Perhaps someone could do a Q&A about books on Queen, including the author's name and a short description of each. Or add that to Library Resources as a topic. Books. A list of Queen DVDs that aren't bootlegs. Or add that to Library Resources as a topic. DVDs. A list of Queen vhs's that aren't bootlegs and year of release. Or add that to Library Resources as a topic. VHS's. A list of songs that are on each of the DVDs and vhs's above. Include in the Library Resources . abbreviations as a topic such as The Fairy King submitted. Abbreviations. . other abbreviations such as what does MK stand for, etc. for we none-U.K. citizens. I know Queenzone.com lists other websites, but the more basic info you put in Q&A, the less irritating questions you will have from newbies. Thanks. |

Well put, Richard. :^) Also, this is a suggestion: How about putting little descriptions beneath the titles of the different sections on the front NB page? I know there are some already, but they could possibly be more to the point (for instance, you could state what the sections are for and then give examples of what to post there, etc). |

Richard, YourValentine was kind enough to answer me about changes I had suggested for the bulletin board. One of the things I learned is that you assume the cost of the board. I know nothing about private websites, but I guess you pay so much for so much memory. Gosh, your website is so professional looking, I thought it was done by a formal Queen organization (even though I know Queenonline.com is the official one.) Yipes! Please ignore my suggestions for expanding the website's information contents. My learning curve is going uphill, steeply! Thanks for your incredible dedication to Queen and Queen fans all over the world. |

Why can't we see the number of posts anymore? |
Joma 23.01.2005 19:47 |
I see. But I liked it. Ok, the 'sportive' posting should stop now.... But the rubbish remains... |

I know this may be a little late but i havn't had time to read much lately as i've been busy but thanks so so much Richard. These boards are alot better now in my opinion. And also this may be off subject slightly but the post counts going have also helped with some of the threads that not so many people like. The boards are alot more fun to be around now. Thanks so much again. 3 Horrays for Richard. Sorry i rambled on for a bit but i am seriously very pleased! Thanks Richard!!!!! |
