Adam Lambert Disses 'Les Miserables,' Well at Least the Men
Is Criticism on Mark, Or Is He Envious of Actors?
By TheImproper Staff, December 30th, 2012
“American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert has dissed the cast of “Les Miserables” for their lack of singing talent.
Included in the criticism is the comedian Sacha Baron Cohen,
"But the score suffered massively "
actors PRETENDING to be singers …it’s an opera. Hollywood’s movie musicals treat the singing as the last priority,” link
Cohen according to rumours, is to play the role of Freddie Mercury, The King Of Queen, in a movie biopic adaptation of his life story.
Cohen aged 41, is said to have been taking singing lessons with a top Hollywood vocal coach, so he can perform hits like Bohemian Rhapsody and A Kind of Magic in the film.
The (as yet) untitled biopic has a 2014 release date, with shooting starting in spring of 2013. Cohen will be 43 at the time of the movies promised release date of 2014, just two years younger than Freddie Mercury's age of death, at 45 years old.
The movie is said to cover Queens beginnings in their mid twenteies, upto their Live Aid triumph in 1985 .
The Director of Tamara Drewe link , Stephen Frears, is to sit in the directors chair while dictated to by Cohen.
Review: Tamara Drew
This could possible be one of the worse, if not the worse, movie to come out this past year. The story of the ugly duckling coming home looking like a princess had it's intent and heart ripped apart by a bad production, bad direction and a horrible script. link
My God! Actors pretending to be singers! Next thing you know they'll be pretending to be cowboys, astronauts, cops, aliens, jedi and even our lord Jesus! Obviously in any film adaptaation of someone's life, the original person has to play their own part. Not a problem with Jesus as he can always resurrect, but a bit more difficult for everyone else.
Cant sing cant act... what can ya do?
Dec 14, 2006 ... Funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen has been banned from singing in his role of Adolfo Pirelli in Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd , Sweeneys hairdressing rival, but Sacha cannot sing...
so is having to use his voice to his best ability in the musical.
A source told the Sun: "Pirelli is a notoriously demanding role with some difficult songs.
Any professional singer would struggle. So Sacha has been told to go for a rap style. It will be a bit like Jim Broadbent's performance in "Moulin Rouge" link
Les Miserables review
Borat the cockney Frenchman, sings Thenadier
If we’re talking about distracting singing though, let’s not leave out Sacha Baron Cohen. I mean he’s funny and it’s not a badly cast Thenadier, and obviously Helena Bonham Carter is wonderful, but when it comes to the songs, Cohen sings them with what’s presumably a cockney accent mimicking a French one and the effect of it is that...to me at least...it sounded like I was hearing Borat perform Master Of The House. link
one trick pony for every role
HUGO
Sacha Baron Cohen should have done a French accent, not that strange in between cockney something or other, they are in France - not London

sacha cohen unwatchable
The acting was competent except for Sacha Baron Cohen who is nearly unwatchable as the aforementioned gendarme - if he would only get a wooden leg it would match the rest of his performance. link
LANGUAGE ITSELF CANNOT EXPRESS HOW ATROCIOUSLY BAD AN ACTOR COHEN IS
My God! comedians pretending to be Actors pretending to be singers!
Jews pretending to be middle eastern arabs
and white kids blacking up with black faces
These are a few of the world's favourite things
It's a movie, and anyone who goes into it expecting the vocal talent to match that of the stage production is only going to be let down - the focus is on the characterisation, the acting, the story telling etc. You know, movie things. Things that you expect from.. a movie. Adam Lambert needs to pull his head out of his arse, as does Medusa.
Also, it's not an opera. If Lambert can't make that distinction then he's proven he's in no position to criticize.
I kinda agree with him though, Russell Crowe's singing was shit and the blonde girl was horrific. I know it's a movie, but surely there should be some emphasis on the singing of a musical! If not, just cut all the music and read the lyrics. Hugh did well enough, but struggled mostly on Bring Him Home.
Scared a bit for SBC as Freddie. His Thenardier was passable at best, not very funny. Still don't know how he managed to lose his voice filming such a small part.
