Queen Providence, RI, USA Providence Civic Center August 26, 1980 Folks, this is a great day in Queen land. First they just announced the complete first night at Wembley '86 will be released on DVD, and a few hours ago I acquired the first excellent-sounding recording from 1980 to come out in ages - probably since the Chicago master came out 6-7 years ago. This is a substantial upgrade to previous copies of the Providence audience tape. Also worth noting is it has an extra 15 seconds of tape before Now I'm Here after the tape flip, but it is missing the overture and most of Jailhouse Rock. I have thus also included a version of Jailhouse Rock that merges in the rest of the song from a higher generation copy of the audience tape. There is no specific lineage here, but this is from a cassette made from a reel-to-reel around 1990 that was not far from the master - likely a first or second gen cassette. Many thanks to ThomasQuinn for transferring his cassette for all to enjoy. AUD > Master Cassette > ? > Reel-to-reel > Cassette > WAV > FLAC level 8 Throughout Brian May's solo spot, the new owner of Freddie Mercury's tambourine thrown away during Keep Yourself Alive can be heard playing it throughout, indicating how close to the stage the recording was taped from. More info on this show here - link Disc 1: 1) Jailhouse Rock [cut] 2) We Will Rock You (fast) 3) Let Me Entertain You 4) Play The Game 5) Mustapha 6) Death On Two Legs 7) Killer Queen 8) I'm In Love With My Car 9) Get Down Make Love 10) You're My Best Friend 11) Save Me 12) Another One Bites The Dust Disc 2: 1) Now I'm Here 2) Dragon Attack 3) Now I'm Here (reprise) 4) Fat Bottomed Girls 5) Love Of My Life 6) Keep Yourself Alive 7) drum solo 8) guitar solo 9) Brighton Rock (reprise) 10) Crazy Little Thing Called Love bonus track - Jailhouse Rock (merge of two copies) link link Enjoy, and keep it lossless. |

Thank you both for that share ! It is a diamond. I don't know how Freddie did this but he joined sensitivity and courage on the Death on two legs on this gig, it must be one of the best versions. As to the Killer Queen mentioned on your site, Bob, I disagree. The recently shared Birmingham gig is better in context of that and some other songs but that's my personal opinion. Pity we don't have the complete gig, maybe it will surface in its complete form one day, who knows. The quality is amazing, like multitrack with little noise. It could be released officially... |

So this is a first attempt to create some cover artwork for this wonderful recording... what I did is putting together and modifying the already existing cover artwork, putting together the tracklists of both cds to one - as they fit together on one disc... hope one of the "artwork specialists" will do a better job, so far enjoy this one... link |

I do have more pics somewhere, but I'm afraid through the years all of my digital files are scattered (not good). infact I was trying to locate another file tonight and cannot find it- so its time to clean my act up. I'll see what I can find-I know I have the actual photos someplace so I'm not too worried. I listened to the concert- very nice- wow brings back alot of memories- what a fun night. Took things for granted back then-didn't realize what a rare treat it was. |
