From dime. I hope this torrent will work behind my firewall of doom. If it does not, someone else just make a new one please.

From a tape I picked up shortly after the gig.
Sadly incomplete show - missing last few songs.
There's a better quality recording of the following night on DIME already, so if you want a UK recording of the Works tour I'd go for that one, but i know there's a lot of completists out there so....
I presumed this would be the same recording as the two other Birmingham gigs here on DIME . But close inspspection shows that my tape IS labelled correctly and this is from the 1st - the previous night.
At the start of "Is This the World..." Brian says "This is much better than last night..."
I was at the gig on the 31st, the night before, the only time I ever saw the band even though I'd been a fan since the mid 70s. I have to say they were very dissapointing and I guess it must have been REALLy bad for Brian to mention it!
However, a recording of the 31st would be greatly appreciated.

Everyone, listen carefully to Brian May after the first chorus of Keep Yourself Alive... he quotes a song that they never played live. Tell me what you hear :-)

Is it a song from the album Jazz ?
Sir GH wrote: Ok, silver for you. Haha :p
Haha, thanks.
That's the great thing about an internet forum: you can act incredibly childish and get away with it:-)
Now, on the serious side, this recording is really a beautiful recording. It's a pity there's so much hiss, otherwise it would have been truly amazing. I love it how the band sound so upfront. That are the kind of audiencerecordings I like most. You get the atmosphere because the audience can still be heard but you also get the power en precision of the band's performance in pretty good detail.
Since about 2007 many wonderful new recordings have surfaced. That's such a wonderful wonderful thing....
Wonderful vocals by Freddie in it's a hard life... once again...
I adore the live versions of that song!
It's obvious the band was still happy to be touring again. Some later shows would have the band in much less enthusiastic spirits.
Although I downloaded it from Dime, I've plugged in this torrent file and am seeding.
For some reason Staying Power and pieces of a couple other tracks aren't synching up, and it says I'm 96.9% done downloading. Weird.
Thanks, the torrent is downloading if a little slowly. It'll get there, no hurry.
Since I was at this concert (in a bad location far back right corner) I thought I ought to have the best sound quality version even if it is incomplete.
It's finished downloading, I have it all thanks. The sound quality is indeed an improvement, shame it's incomplete but that's what we have.
Thanks to the seeders. I got about 60% of it from someone on Wanadoo in France, is that you Ginger? I'm not sure where the rest came from, I wasn't watching at the time. Could easily have been Real Wizard.
Time for bed, it's too late already but I just had to watch the end of The Bridge.
