Since I wanted to join this "upload frenzy", I have decided to share another nice thing, hope you like it. Band : Queen Title : A Magical Night In Mannheim Venue : Maimarktgelände, Mannheim, Germany Date : 21. June 1986 Quality : Excellent + / Excellent - Lineage : Source 1 : SBD > "Done Under Pressure In Germany" (Gypsy Eye) > CD(1) > WAV Source 2 : SBD > FM > Cassette (1) > WAV > FLAC level 8 The best existing recording of this concert comes from the Gypsy Eye bootleg "Done Under Pressure In Germany". The majority of this bootleg comes from an excellent source, which is probably even pre-FM. It has unfortunately a lot of background hiss, but it gets mostly noticable during the silent parts. Also some songs (like Tie Your Mother Down) play in an incorrect speed and others are distorted. There were many cuts in this fantastic recording, so the guys at "Gypsy Eye" filled the gaps from a much worse quality recording. However until spring 2008 this bootleg was the best existing version of this concert. In March 2008 a new source appeared, which is a digital copy of a 1st gen copy of a direct FM broadcast. This copy is complete, but much worse quality then the better part of DUPIG, but still much better then the worse part of DUPIG. So a logical next step was to take the better part of the DUPIG audio, remove the hiss, correct the speed where necessary and fill the gaps with the FM source. The result was encoded to FLAC with Traders Little Helper removing all SBEs. The flac files were tagged with Winamp. So until a complete version of the main DUPIG source appears, this is probably the best currently existing version of this gig. Of course, if you have a better one, feel free to share it :) Tracklist : Disc 1 1. One Vision 2. Tie Your Mother Down 3. In The Lap Of The Gods ...revisited 4. Seven Seas Of Rhye 5. Liar (intro) 6. You could say it's not difficult with this kind of quality but I really like this show. Even though Freddie is not as strong as the first few shows, I really find he puts on an amazing show with many outstanding moments. There are also a few little moments I truly adore like Freddie saying: I knew it would work! (I think that is after they did the Gimme your lovin' bit), Brian playing the I feel fine riff, Crazy little thing called love, the passion with which they perform Who wants to live forever?, .... Al those little things that make Queen shows so special and collecting them worthwhile:-) |

It's the best WATC version of the Magic Tour, to my mind and in my humble insignificant crawling opinion, and I still have to listen to this upgrade now. The version I listened to long ago, one of the first recordings I listened to here, had already a very good sound. I don't have the files anymore...but if I remember correctly Brian had some issues with his guitar during Hammer To Fall, would anyone be as kind and gentle as to refresh my memory? It'd be the best of the Magic Tour had Brian not had this issue with his guitar. :-( But I may be wrong and maybe it's not this concert. Thanks! |

Great stuff during Another one bites the dust too. Freddie does a great vocal exchange with the audience while in the meantime the others make sure there's a funky basis for him to do his magic on:-) I adore those 1986 versions, what a difference compared to the shitty electronic drums stuff from 1984-1985. In 1986 there are several versions where John does nice things too in that middle bit(like Wembley first night, Knebworth, Munich first night) Fantastic version of Tear it up too. The snare sound of Roger's drum is really something during this show! |

The copy shared here has better sound quality... never mind the fact that the "official" version is lossy. It's QP's own fault for not providing a version worth buying. They're selling bootlegs, not their own soundboard recordings. It would be an entirely different story if they were selling recordings that people didn't have 10 years ago by other means. People would then be purchasing them in droves. |

It's a bootleg converted to extremely bad mp3 (according to the mp3 samples), which is not sold by the bootleg company, but QP. I try to ignore the existence of the "top 100 bootlegs" or what's the name and most of the people here do. Especially when most of the recordings which are available for official downloads already WERE shared here (usually in much better form) and nobody complained |

I also think some things look rather horrible. Still, I wanted to raise the question. The thing is that this IS the official release - warts'n'all. I agree that the quality should be better and all that. Just wanted to bring up the question of what one should do as a fan with (albeit horribly qualiy) such official releases. |
The Real Wizard 18.08.2009 20:38 |
I say go for it. If QP want the fans to cough up the cash, then they should sell things worth buying. Sounds pretty simple to me. |

Valery are you talking about the "effect" which happens around 1:00 ? If yes, it's not a cut, it's just a quite drastic change of audio source. Or are you talking about something different ? |

Or are you talking about something different ? ============================================================== It seems that I'm talking right about it. But is it really not a cut? It sounds just like it. Like in this video, it starts at 0:59. And why does this LOML have only two bars on guitar in the beginning instead of usual four bars? |
The Real Wizard 16.08.2011 20:14 |
Yup, you're right ... half the intro is missing. |
Hangman_96 17.08.2011 10:39 |
Any chance it can be fixed? |
pittrek 17.08.2011 11:27 |
OK something EXTREMELY strange is with my 01 - Love Of My Life.flac file from "Done Under Pressure In Germany". When I play it in Winamp or VLC it plays the FULL intro. When I open it in Cool Edit Pro (the editing program I'm using for many many years for all my projects), the intro is TRUNCATED - the same which you hear in this share. Seriously, WTF ? Could somebody please upload for me a fully working LOML flac or wav file from DUPIG ? I will fix it |

Try this: link I once downloaded it from here: link I only changed some tags, ffp should be unchanged. |

Here is the new version of disc 2 For those of you who won't burn this to audio CD - it is enough for you to download the first zip file and use only the first file. If you want to burn it to audio CD, you need all files link link link link BTW I hope it's all correct now. I'm ill right now and hear nothing through my left ear, but it sounded correct to my right ear :-) |

Thank you so much, Pittrek! Highly appreciated! And I hope you get well soon. |

I found this article about the release of "Definitive Mannheim" last year (2012): link It says " In March 2008 the show was broadcast again on the radio in much upgraded sound quality and was copied on CDR on Monnem Magic (Trial-326). Definitive Mannheim is the first silver pressing of the new tape. Made by the same people who manufacture the Trial label, they claim to have cleaned up the tape and fixed the pitch issues on disc one." I got the impression that this one was better than all predecessors, but maybe this isn't so? Anyone ever heard this one? Thanks Pittrek for this upload. This concert is one of my favourites of the Magic Tour. |

Well to my ears the 1st gen radio recording sounds WORSE than "DUPIG" |
