Was the miracle not in '89? Anyway, I reckon it would have been I want it all. I remember back then I was dying for them to tour as I'd never seen them live and was sure I was about to get my chance. Bummer!! |

I Want It All would of been the first track. I guarantee it. Too bad Queen didn't perform a song from 'The Miracle' on a public television music show in the TOTP kind of way. Freddie could of handled it, if he could handle two days of filming 'Breakthru' |

That would have been cool. But I guess only Freddie knew what he was able to manage and for whatever reason decided against it. I'd imagine it was a case of if I can't be my very best then its nothing at all. |

I'm not sure there's a perfect opening song on The Miracle. They could have opened with Tie Your Mother Down, and I Want It All could have come early in the set. But hopefully they would have rotated many songs as the opener, I hate it how Queen used to play exactly the same set every single night on one tour. Nowadays when fans know setlists via the Internet, the audience would get extremely bored when they always know what song is going to come next, and hell, you'd think that the band also gets tired of performing the same show every night. It's also boring for fans who collect ROIOs when they get 30 similar concerts from a tour. Thankfully most of my favourite bands like to change the set every night. But getting back to Queen... there's lots of songs they could have used to open concerts, lots of songs they could have used to end them too. It's interesting to think up setlists for an imaginary Miracle tour that would/could have taken place in 1989-90... |
drjones 02.04.2009 11:42 |
sorry yea it was 89! as the magic tour setlist wasnt really for die hard fans i think a miracle tour setlist would have had to have some rarely heard stuff or even sollo stuff a Queen version of man on fire would have been great. |

i think "The Invisible Man" should work well, imagine:Freddie appears somewhere in the crowd and begin the song... |
david (galashiels) 02.04.2009 14:00 |
like angus young coming up on a wee stage mid crowd. |
blackshuck03 02.04.2009 14:04 |
was it all worth it, nice slow intro like one vision |

It's a different thing to film a video and do as many takes as you wish, and to perform a song live and get it right in one go. Considering Freddie's status and his perfectionism, he probably thought about it and decided it was too risky. Also, keep in mind that his health condition was unstable at the time and he probably couldn't predict in what shape he would be on a particular day. |

In keeping with previous tours, a new song would probably have been chosen; perhaps modified version of I Want it All the most likely contender |
Band Forever 02.04.2009 16:03 |
Dead on Time would have been a nice fast one to open up with the intro giving Fred a nice opportunity to Roar his way into the concert like TYMD at Wembley best intro to this song imo. Hero I love from Milton Keynes absolute belter and rip roaring start to a concert, not sure what shape his voice would after this lot, I think my throat would be bleeding! |
pittrek 02.04.2009 16:24 |
Well I'd guess they would start with a taped version of Party, which would go directly in I Want It All |

Song from Miracle surely wouldn't be an opener. it would be either Tie your mother down or One vision i think...i don't know, probaby The Miracle, Scandal and Breakthru would be played... |
dbruce 02.04.2009 17:59 |
I like this idea of Was It All Worth It playing as an intro tape (same way One Vision was), and then the band ripping into the heavy riff in the middle. Only need a couple of minutes of the song, then jump to the old favourite of TYMD! |
thunderbolt 31742 02.04.2009 22:50 |
I always figured a taped "Party" into "Khashoggi's Ship" would have made a fun opener. Just as the "ooooooo" at the end of Party jumps up an octave, smoke bombs go off, and Freddie appears onstage shouting, "Who said that my party was all over?" Khashoggi could have segued into TYMD pretty nicely. Ah, what could have been. |
drjones 03.04.2009 05:52 |
now that sounds excellent! i have to say though i prefer TYMD later in the set rather than early as most are suggesting. |
gooddrills 03.04.2009 07:07 |
Was It All Worth It would have worked, I can hear and picture it now, intro as per the record firat and then wham bam into it. Fuck yeah |
Bigfish 03.04.2009 07:14 |
I agree - my Miracle tour setlist would have been; Tie your mother down Kashoggis Ship Under Pressure A Kind of Magic I Want it All Another one bites the Dust Seven Seas of Rhye/One Vision/Hammer to fall medley Somebody to Love Now I'm here Love of my Life Is this the World? Impro/Brighton Rock Breakthrough Radio Ga Ga Crazy Little thing called love Was it all worth it ? Bohemian Rhapsody Jailhouse Rock I want to break free We will rock you We are the champions |

koldweather123 05.04.2009 18:22 |
Breakthru I think would have been a great opener, the first 25-30 seconds would be a taped introduction then just as it increases in tempo would be where the band kicked in. |

Id say Party/Khashoggi's Ship to start. Was It All Worth It would be a great way to end a show too tho |
