Snivlle listed the Room 101 production... that's still seeding here... http://www.queenconcerts.com/queenzone/1019148.html ...as the best available NTSC version. JTT is now seeding the snow producciones version here... http://www.jamtothis.com/showthread.php?p=108940 My history with SP is while the authoring and different audio versions are stellar... the video sources are usually not top drawer. Has anyone ever compared the two? |
pittrek 08.11.2008 09:09 |
Hard to say. Hernan makes wonderfull DVDs, he is the master of DVD authoring, the problem are his sources. Sometimes he uses great sources, but most of his DVDs come from high-generation VHS tapes and for some strange reason he likes to crop the video to 16:9 However this specific video looks nice |

SP is a cropped to 16:9 (nice if you like scalped heads). I think the 101 version is the best around, even if the intro to NIH is cut, so I'm with snivlle on this one. |
Dodger Taylor 08.11.2008 13:26 |
If its the same Snow version that I have the down side is it is cropped, but it does have the intro from Bob Harris and also the option to use the radio broadcast as the audio so guess its person preference. The picture quality is very good. The worst Snow one Iv seen is the Paris 79 one, most others Iv seen seem ok. Dont suppose anyone has dvd covers for the Snow Sao Paulo Double dvd or the Snow HydePark widescreen version do they? |

I can't download the torrent of the JTT version. Can someone upload this torrent or send me by email? |

I suggest you just download the Room 101 version I linked in the first post... it has the better video source... I would go with that. But If you really want the SP version you'll find your instructions in the next post. |

I think the audio of the SP-Version ist amazing. Very nice DVD, especially for ppl with 16:9 TV. Thanks a lot for the link! Just register on the JTT board before downloading the torrent. If I understand their rules correctly, then you have to seed it until a ratio of 0.5 if you want to download other torrents there. |

Snivlle had a PAL version of Hammy 75 listed on his site... a version he rated as highly as the Room 101 NTSC version... unfortuately he took his site down before I got the details. Does anyone know anything about that version? |
deleted user 09.11.2008 13:50 |
I know it was PAL 4:3 and I think he said the sound was slightly better and the video slightly worse than the 101 NTSC version. I also think he had them both at A-. Sorry but I cannot recall the source of the PAL version, perhaps someone else can. |
eYe 11.11.2008 01:01 |
Hmm, I have a PAL version, but no idea if its the one mentioned here. There is no menu, it starts with a ROCK MASTERS logo, the video has "music MAX" in the bottom right corner, the credits at the end look like a TV broadcast "Digitaly remastered for NBDtv" and there is a "Queen Special" with fucked up audio as a bonus. |
brians wig 11.11.2008 03:59 |
Personally i think the QTV version is the best. Okay, it's mono sound and has the QTV logo in the corner, but it's the complete Whistle Test version, ie, the original. It's also in PAL and sourced from a PAL master, so no nasty NTSC conversions anywhere to be seen. |

[/img] Musicmax i think was an Australian rebroadcast from early 2000(ish) - originally PAL and 4:3. it is a similar version to various rebroadcast in NTSC (US / Japan ) " Rock Masters " The original version (with Bob Harris intro) exist both with QTV and without QTV logo, also with and without timecode. (I am talking about the original VHS stuff, no idea how they have been processed / cropped / redubbed etc by various mix masters onto DVD :)) A recent rebroadcast was on ORF (Austria) in 2008 , digital broadcast - which so far is the best version, unfortunately its been cropped to 16:9 to make it "widescreen", so some of the original 4:3 picture is lost. |

I have two versions of the OGWT broadcasts, one has the timecode at the bottom, the second at the top, but I've never seen a version WITHOUT timecodes. I guess I won't talk you into a trade :) BTW I don't know if it's "common knowledge" but last year Czech national TV - CT1 aired a PAL version of the common edit. The video quality is as excellent as the WoWoW broadcast featured on the "Christmas Eve At Hammersmith" bootleg DVD, and it doesn't have the nasty TV logo + there are no song titles (with terrible spelling errors) on the bottom. Just the audio was slightly worse . |

1/will pm you about trades... 2/in which version was the Czech broadcast? original 4:3? if so, maybe that version should be mixed with the ORF audio (plus the radio broadcast as audio 2), the missing parts should be filled with the clean full version... and then we can have the ultimate (at least to date...) version. ORF version from 2008, false 16:9 http://img145.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vlcsnap00001.jpg original VHS 4:3, no tbc or logo http://img410.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vlcsnap00002.jpg] |

I have a VCD from a mpg shared here some years ago that I got too) from the Rock Masters broadcast, with the Music Max logo, and also have a DVD with the Rock Masters beginning, but then a japanese guy appeared.I think the picture is OK but the audio is poor (I prefered the audio form the VCD, that says all). My question is: which version I must download to get the definitive one?? The Sniville version?? Where I can get it in Rapidshare or a similar server? Thnks in advance for your advices. About Hernan Snow: I think they does an excellent job, and I'm proud he is argentinian too. But I don't like his 16:9 versions because he is cutting the original image. He does the contrary thing that TV does when broadcast movies: to broadcast in 4:3 format (the classic TV size) TV cuts the original 16:9 image from cinema. |

I'd love to see the Czech and the Austrian rebroadcasts. But I cannot recommend Room 101 enough. I know it's NTSC instead of PAL. But it's still a very nice version of this show. It may still be seeding here. link |

I have a copy of a Japanese re-brodacast from HDTV -> DVD. It's NTSC of course and I think the DVD write is inferior to XP mode (i.e. 1hr DVD mode) but better than SP (2hr DVD mode). Maybe I'll post it one day. Luke |
