$18 for a concert in a movie theatre? You have got to be kidding me. Doesn't Brian May know that I could pay $6.50 for High School Musical 3, sneak into the Queen theatre instead, and he gets no credit whatsoever? I'll wait for the DVD. It'll be out before Live In Budapest anyways. |

I am soooooo there! I've been thinking about this. It's really a much needed improvement over the old "TV simulcast" concept which has historically been fraught with technical difficulties, subject to editing by TV stations, and limited by the size and quality of one's TV/Audio investments. Instead, we are able to view a concert on the big screen, in terrific theatre sound, one which we wouldn't normally witness, without all the hassles of technical difficulties and commercial interruptions, for example. Plus, it's only marginally higher priced than a stupid movie ticket! I love the concept, and I'm sure the performance will inspire me to ramble on about it in another thread tomorrow... see you there, queenies! [/img] Peace |

I thought I was going to have a long drive to see this, but there are 7 theaters showing it within 30 miles of me here in Kansas. I guess I won't have too much of a problem finding a seat tonight. I'm looking forward to this. They better crank the sound up! |

no offense, but I don't get the bitching about ticket prices. how much is a regular us movie ticket compared to this? and this is a ONE night only. I have only seen one concert on the big screen (stones - shine a light), and it is the closest thing next to actually attending the gig. so I say pay the few extra bucks for that one night. I too am eager to get the dvd, but no way in hell does a regular home sound system come anything close to a theater experience |

i would be so there if i was in the us, 18 dollars, what's the big deal? theatre experience is the closest you'll get to actual live experience |

Just got back from it, and a couple margaritas post-show. Sadly, only 7 people in our theater. [/img] And INCOMPETENCE is alive and well and employed at the Stratford Square Mall theatre in Bloomingdale, Illinois. The sound was so low, I went out to request they check it about 10 minutes into the showing. 10 more minutes go by and yet nothing changes. Again, I go out to implore them to check what's wrong. Some 15 more minutes go by and finally they manage to FIND THE VOLUME KNOB and turn it up finally to normal level. Even after all that, it still wasn't balanced right... couldn't hear any of the background vocals (which were all echoey like they were mixed to a missing channel), almost no bass, etc. etc. Maddening. So much for my optimism about the technical difficulties. Yikes, you'd think I'd learn to assume that people are incompetent idiots first and be pleasantly surprised later if they accidentally do things right. I'm certain this was unique to my stupid theater, and not the recording itself, though. My review of the film (oh, yeah! there was that!) is that while the band looked great and sounded great throughout, this is a flawed performance and does not rank among their best work by any measure. They seemed, dare I say it, a bit rusty... a bit unrehearsed (ok, I know it was opening night of the tour but still, these guys are veterans so the bar is very high), and the synchronization seemed to suffer, particularly on Hammer To Fall and one or two others. I was disappointed at the way they shortened One Vision and especially hated how they stopped '39 after the first chorus to bring the other players out to the end of the stage...ugh! I pray they deep six that "new tradition" by the time they make it back to the states. And they just couldn't sell C-lebrity for some reason... the Al Murray show clip was so much more convincing. Even Dr. May seemed to struggle on Last Horizon, especially compared to how 100% perfectly he played it on the 2006 tour... but there were moments of magic there too, Brian's newly evolved solo, Bijou, and Cosmos Rockin among them. I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars. Bottom line: I would ALWAYS rather have the opportunity to see them than not, and would absolutely go again for a different show, had I the opportunity. Well worth the cash. Just never again at the same stupid theater. Cheers |

Went to the film last night at a MEGA theater here in NJ. This place has like 20 movies playing at once...posters everywhere. However, not ONE poster advertising Q+PR. Bought the tickets and the kid at the ticket booth says to me, "$18? What's that about? I haven't a clue what this movie even is!" I wanted to smack him and his manager for the lack of interest the employees have and the lack of knowledge. Get into the theater and there are 15 people including myself, my son and my friend. How sad! Maybe if there had been one tv advertisement, or some radio spots on major stations or even some print ads in the entertainment sections of the newspaper. No. Why bother advertising? The film itself was very good. Seeing the sea of fans that the guys looked over as they played was very cool. 350,000 people spread out as far as the eye can see. The sound 'blipped" out in our theater about a dozen times. Other than that the sound was very good. You could really hear the background vocals. They were in good form, I thought. Not perfect, but what concert is? It was the first night, you expect it to not be perfect. They played "Shooting Star" which I did not get to see at any of the UK gigs I went to in October. Love that song. Overall I think the film was a great idea, but the method of bringing it to the masses was totally off base for any kind of success. If they are going to roll it out in the rest of the world they need to rethink how the masses are going to find out about it. Postings on boards and word of mouth isn't going to make this a success. |

The lack of a poster in the theater really irked me because I have seen numerous posters for Fathom events in our theater. Heck...when I was in there I saw a Fathom poster for upcoming Opera events. There were tiny little mentions of it in the local paper here, but unless you are somebody that scans each and every event listing you would never find it. |

I went and was just blown away by the quality of the video, the sound, the whole experience was amazing....the promotion was lacking as far as mass marketing goes and there were no posters in the theatre either......for those who weren't impressed this was the first night of their current tour....I could feel the energy from the crowd and feel that energy coming out of Bri, Roger, Paul, Spike,Jamie and Danny....there were no technical difficulties in the theatre I attended.....to me it was akin to being on stage with them during the concert....I think this type of venue has a place it just has to be marketed more effectively....the price was reasonable the ROI was 1000% for my money spent....I'd love to see QPR release this as a DVD with part of the proceeds going to their AIDS trust.... |

I went to see it. There were only six people in the theater. I was the only teenager there. It was actually pretty awesome, despite that the audio cut off during the middle of Fat Bottomed Girls. |

What do I think? I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEST. MOVIE. THEATER. EXPERIENCE. EVER!!!!!!!! Such fun; such a great show! The turnout was so amazing, and the band rocked! They have become such a great unit, clearly not Queen, but clearly something truly amazing. Brian and Roger can still outplay anyone in the industry today, and Paul-welcome to the family! He's an amazing frontman! I so enjoyed seeing a concert in a movie with a stadium screen with Dolby surround sound; it was great to truly enjoy the show without braving the 'combat zone' of a live concert :) The only complaint I had was that if I hadn't been checking the movie listings at my favorite theater on Oct. 21, or a subscriber on this list, I would have never known about the show! Totally under-advertised! Carla |

I think Queen is the greatest band in the World and Isupport any effort they make to take over the States. The feed here in the Midwest was horrible. You can only here sound from thecenter channel and that was it. I was so saddened and upset because it lookedlike one hell of a good show. |
