Houston 77

Posted on 27.01.2004 21:30:29
Has anybody got a copy of Houston 77 on film, I can't find it anywhere, not even the 30 min version. This surely must be the rarest of the rare?. Does the concert exist in full on film ?, I know Greg Brooks played it at the convention a few years ago but I cant remember weather it was said to be complete.

I hate to sound pedantic but wasn't it shot on video? Are you thinking of some kind of telecined version?

Either way I've never seen or heard about a copy being 'distributed' COUGH anywhere!!!

Well, in fact there is a 40 minutes version of that show on video among few collectors, but as you can realize it's ultra-rare to get it...

Posted on 28.01.2004 08:07:53
Actually the short version is "only" rare while the complete version is "very rare". I know collectors who have it but you'd have to offer something similar (a very rare video), otherwise there's absolutely no chance to get it. Money don't work here.

by the what, in what quality is it available?

Posted on 29.01.2004 08:58:24
I don't know, I don't have it. But apparently it's only like "VG".

I've been looking for a copy of that show for YEARS. I can't wait for it to eventually surface on Kazaa or WinMX. I love the internet for these reasons.

It won't surface unless the collectors make it available. And that won't happen soon. I personally don't know why this show is so "top secret", maybe the original owner stole it and he doesn't want to see it widely available.

Has anybody written Jacky at the Fan Club? Inside the booklet of the GVH they list the owner of the rights to it. Maybe one of us can buy the license to it. There seems to be unreleased films that can be found. Lets investigate. Everyone can check Mr.Scullys list of filmed concerts and see what city they live next too. Then they can go down to the tv station production office and say they are tracking down rare footage for a documentary. Shouldn't be too hard. The USA in the 70's only had 3 networks.

Record conventions are good also. I found a short amateur clip from NY from the 70's. Really good. Better than that crappy Wembley.

where people can get that dvd?

Posted on 16.03.2004 08:30:51
You can track some footage from local TV archives if you search hard enough - that sometimes happens. Houston is impossible to get via any "official" channel. Fan club has this video but they don't have rights to it. They were only allowed to broadcast it at the Convention.

Mr.Scully,

Where did the fan club get it? Did anybody remember the length and quality of the fan club version? Will they be showing it off this year at the North American one?

Posted on 18.03.2004 09:23:43
I'm sure they will be showing Houston on the North American Convention; after all, it's about the only interesting thing the fan club can offer these days.

I think Queen Productions lent them the video and allowed them to broadcast it on the Conventions.
