Can anyone tell me who opened for Queen during their Game Tour performance in New Orleans? Someone on another forum posted the following, and I am trying to figure out the name of the band that they are referring to. Thanks. "I played in a melodic rock band in the early 80's (name withheld), and we were signed to Columbia Records through a 'sweetheart' deal with our producer, who was in the multi-platinum band Chicago. The record turned out excellent, but languished upon release, because Chicago was tryng to leave the label, there were hard feelings, and in typical record label high-school logic, we were guilty by association. As the band played the club scene in upstate NY, our manager got a late night call - they needed the band in New Orleans the next day, to jump on Queen's "The Game" tour. Apparently, Columbia had gotten a phone call from Brian May, that the opening band was "so bloody awful we can't stand them anymore." The opening band was U2. The story was, they'd literally learned how to play their instruments approximately a year before, and had no business being onstage with the likes of Queen. "

1. There was no The Game gig in New Orleans. 2. U2 have never ever supported Queen. So the whole story is pretty far from the truth :)

From Mr. Scully: "1. There was no The Game gig in New Orleans." The poster actually said: " they needed the band in New Orleans the next day, to jump on Queen's "The Game" tour." He didn't say that they played in New Orleans, just that they joined the tour in New Orleans. Who was the opening act for Queen during the last half of this tour, as that would be very helpful. Thanks.

It was Dakota (until the end of the tour).

Yeah, and U2 were formed in 1976. They would have known how to play their instruments by the early 80s.

I saw Dakota in Providence on that tour and hated them. In fact I think the entire arena did.
