SMILE, RECORDINGS

Posted on 14.06.2006 18:37:59
Did the pre-Queen band Smile with Brian May, Roger Taylor, and Tim Stafell ever record an album, and if so where can i get it from?

Posted on 15.06.2006 15:19:59
Search for "Ghost Of A Smile", it has the Smile songs in best possible quality. Dutch release, shouldn't be too difficult to get hold of it.

was any concert recorded?
if so, is there any on the bootleg marked?

There are some recordings in hands of Queen Productions. Even video material exists.

Silent video from Royal Albert Hall 1969 is the only live footage of Smile that exists.

Posted on 19.06.2006 20:08:17
you can see it in most TV documentaries about Queen.

Ghost Of A Smile is listed in many online shops but usually "not available". Sorry, no idea.

if you know a good dealer of Queen Vinyls ask him for the "Gettin' Smile" Japanese recording. but it's expensive.

Posted on 11.07.2006 21:30:28
"Gettin' Smile" have much worser quality then Dutch release on CD "Ghost Of A Smile"

thanks, hey does anyone know he sung lead vocals on April Lady by Smile. I think it was Tim Staffell but it sounded like Brian aswell

Posted on 27.09.2006 03:50:19
It's Brian, except for "it's been good to have you around" and similar melodic lines, which are (I think) Roger.
