Budapest 86

Posted on 09.12.2003 02:50:59
Hello everybody... I would like to get some information about the complete Budapest 86 video that exists in the black market...

Posted on 09.12.2003 14:02:29
Well what do you want to know? 16 cameras on one screen => you can hardly see anything. Maybe some 1st generation tape is better but it's certainly far from perfect and not much enjoyable.

Posted on 09.12.2003 18:17:35
ohhh... I thought that the complete version was edited, I mean like the official version but extended...
by the way Mr. Skully, do you know which live dvd will be released next year???

Posted on 09.12.2003 19:18:53
I can guarantee that it won't be either Rainbow '74 or Milton Keynes '82. I would imagine they would go for an earlier gig to compliment Wembley, so I wouldn't mind putting me money on Hammersmith Odeon '75....

Posted on 10.12.2003 09:00:55
I have no "backstage" info so I can only guess what they release (IF they release anything next year). My guess is that they release Milton Keynes 1982.

Hmmm, not to sure... Why would they put one song from the gig on the GVHII DVD? I would reckon that due to this, they probably won't release it all. Otherwise, they would have put a few songs from Wembley 86 on there too. But I would love to be proven wrong!

Does a full recording exist though?

Earls Court probably won't be released because of the technical problems - but having said that, they could have put a snippet of that on GVHI if there was no intention!

Houston maybe?

God knows! Like Mr.Scully says, QP may not release anything at all!! Would not suprise me in the least!

Posted on 13.12.2003 02:38:30
Some time ago I voted in a queen poll for the next dvd release... does that poll really influence to QP???

Posted on 15.12.2003 09:54:35
I sent the poll results to Queen Productions (I wanted to sent them directly to them but in the end I sent them to OutsideLine who are responsible for almost all Queen DVD's) and they promised to study the results at some regular "Monday meeting" or whatever. God knows if it had any sense. But I also sent them heaps of messages about the original aspect ratio and then they released Wembley in 4:3 so maybe they did pay attention.

Earls Court will be the next DVD release. I say this as I know that they are currently looking at it. Remember it was recorded over two nights they didnt both have mic problems in the same place. Anyway anyone who has heard the original wembley 86 tapes will know about the mistakes which seem to have mysteriousy dissapered, and vocal overdubs, so if they have done it to wembley they can just as easily do it to others

Posted on 02.01.2004 00:44:57
is that information correct???

Posted on 02.01.2004 18:24:35
Yes it is.
And another thing, the master copy of Hammersmith 75' is said to be badly damaged during Now Im Here which is the first song so the release of that is unlikely.

Posted on 05.01.2004 10:05:16
That would explain why the recent remastered re-broadcast of Hammersmith Odeon missed first few seconds of Now I'm Here.

And I agree that if Earls Court is released, they will use vocal overdubs and edits from both shows so the result will probably be a strange hybrid.

Posted on 05.01.2004 19:34:09
Where is this cut? Is that at the start (misses Procession) or later on?

Shame, I would like to see that gig on DVD. But there again, I would also like to see a ruck more, including Earls Court. It still seems strange to me why they include snippets from a show on the GH DVDs though....

Posted on 06.01.2004 09:21:25
I think the remastered version starts right after the NIH intro, so 20-30 seconds are missing. If I remember correctly.

Posted on 06.01.2004 23:33:54
i hope tehy 'll do the complete version of milton keynes including back chat and the other track the misses in all the bootlegs recordings what do you think about it?

Posted on 07.01.2004 01:25:33
I'd be happy with a nice, completely remastered audio release of a complete Houston 1977 or something like that. We know they have the audio to most of their shows, and personally I'd like something cleaned up from the bootleg versions we're all familiar with.

For video, I'd like to see something from the Jazz tour. The stage lighting for those gigs was remarkable, and the electricity of that tour was really special.

Posted on 07.01.2004 10:22:31
I'd like something from 1975, but do they have other footage than just Hammersmith?

Posted on 07.01.2004 18:20:00
The 19/04/75 TOKYO, JAPAN concert was also filmed... but the length is only about 20 minutes, and includes:

-Press conference
-Now I'm Here
-Killer Queen
-In The Lap Of The Gods ... revisited

Excerpts can be seen in Magic Years 2
and a low quality video of that show can be foun in the blck market...

Posted on 07.01.2004 18:25:20
I didn't know the 4/19/75 gig was taped, or part of it anyway.

Maybe they could release some sort of a live boxed set. They could include a couple of complete shows, both on audio and DVD, then compile a DVD of highlights from shows that weren't filmed completely. An "Best of the Early Days" DVD would be great. It could include footage from incomplete filmings like the one above, and maybe a few surprises we don't know exist. Just a thought.

> -Press conference

See, little things like this should be released as extras on the DVDs, instead of snippets from concerts which could possibly see a full release. This is what makes me so suspicious that they won't release gigs such as Milton Keynes and Rainbow 74 in their entirity.

It would be nice to see a two DVD set or something making up for Rare Live, which actually cleans up these little loose ends like Japan 75.

Posted on 07.01.2004 20:49:28
I totally agree.

Posted on 07.01.2004 22:21:59
ehehheh i think one gig from '79 in dvd would be the best that we can want

Posted on 07.01.2004 22:38:50
I would love to see either Houston '77 or Hammersmith '79 released because 1) they are both great shows, 2) Freddie is in great voice. It is about time they release something which shows off Freddies vocal range to the full and has no fake vocal overdubs!!! Freddies voice sounds pretty good on ' Rainbow' but this is only because for most of the show the lead vocal was entirely re-recorded to sound good for the Led Zep cinema trailer.

Posted on 08.01.2004 09:00:01
Full Hammersmith 1979 would be superb and IMO even maybe better than Houston 1977.

Posted on 08.01.2004 18:19:13
There are some rumors about a possible next release of full Houston 77 dvd... that would be great...

IMO another show that should be released on dvd is Paris 79... but I think the video quality is not as good as other recordings such as Hammersmith 79...

Posted on 10.01.2004 04:45:19
Agreed. Hammersmith 79 would be a great release. They need to put out a remastered Jazz/Killers tour show on DVD.

Posted on 11.01.2004 11:55:41
We know that this concert from Hammersmith 79 was filmed and only about 80 min of it exist for sure. But I read in some book and some sites that the FULL show was presented in fun club convention in 1988. For me must exist... :)

Posted on 28.01.2004 01:50:11
I must exist a full version of that show... in Queen archives, of course :D

Posted on 28.01.2004 08:13:06
I think the Convention version was 80 min. long - and the bootleg video which exists COMES directly from this Convention :)

Posted on 28.01.2004 18:12:24
and what about Frankfurt 82 video???

Posted on 31.01.2004 07:21:16
Frankfurt has never really been talked about. There is a clip or two on Rare Live. That's about it. The video quality isn't too great, but the audio is nice!
