Wembley and Live Aid

Posted on 13.04.2006 13:05:31
what do You think about Live At Wembley in 1986 and Live Aid?

I think that both these concerts are great but Live Aid was better (although it was very short) :)

i thought both were excellent, queen stole the show at live aid
but i loved wembly queen at thier best.

No, no, I must comment this more perfectly, forgive me ;) - listen carefuly recording from Rainbow 31.03.194 and then you will say "queen at thier best" :))

when you look at the live aid documentary they all say Queen's segment was the show stopper with the crowd clapping to radio ga ga it was un real to see over 100,000 people clapping at the same time wembley was good but not the best live at the bowl was also good it had some of the newer things from the hot spaces album

"wembley was good but not the best live at the bowl was also good it had some of the newer things from the hot spaces album"
The best are still London 26.12.1979 :))

I think they were ok but not exceptionally brilliant. They made some mistakes at Live Aid and virtually any gig from the '74-'82 era is remarkably better imo.

Live Aid was pretty gd, but live at wembley was simply stunning!!! The way they started it with One Vision and Tie Your Mother Down was great.

The guitar solo was fantastic (as usual) and it was nice that they did something different in the middle with Tutti Frutti etc. but what makes that concert so amazing is how they finished it with BR, Hammer To Fall and Crazy, with fantastic music extensions on the songs.

One of the highlights of Queen's life.

queen123 - another maniac "from wembley". You don't know what You say dude ;)
l"ive at wembley was simply stunning" - yeach, maybe Friday night but not Saturday....

Ok Lurex, fair point but what do you think about it then? The reason i say that is because there are not alot of concerts around from the 70s, earlier albums.

If there where then i would probably be saying different. What is your favourite concert then?

I know its going kind of off the point, sorry.

For me, Wembley was far better than Live Aid for many different reasons.

Firstly, the sound/picture quality and performence at Wembley were much better. Then of course Wembley was a full show and not just a 'spot'. I've only just bought the Live Aid DVD set within the last week(!) and I think it's great; Freddie was on fire. Shame that there's barely any footage at all of Roger, and the rest weren't much better off. Still really great, but for 'me' Wembley wins hands down, without a doubt!

The Wembley DVD is the thing that won me over with Queen. Growing up in the '80s, my older brother was a Queen fan and I basically HATED them! When I'd think of Queen I'd picture Freddie dressed all 'glam' like the early video clips. YUCK! I guess I don't mind as much today, BUT for me Queen at their best 'live' were their later years. To see them live in '86 would've been a dream for me, they played tough, sounded brilliant and Freddie looked fantastic! I know most wont agree, but that's cool! :)

QUEEN FOREVER!

Very well said queen_sa. I don't think Lurex has sat down and actually watched wembley!!!!!

It also shows that Queen are stil pulling fans today and the reason for this is because of concerts like wembley.

Pure guys... ;) "Children from Magic Tour...'" ;)
I always say that my favorite and "best of the best" is concert from London 26.12.1979 (like all from Crazy Tour) and then London 31.03.1974. I dont care if picture and sound quality is soooo superb or worser.

Wembley is waaaaaay overrate, it wasnt a good concert. Live aid is also overrated but was much better than wembley.

wembley was a great concert great interaction with the crowd (you dont get that these days) and so was live aid as is said they "stole the show", but i also think that live at the bowl was better they showed some new stuff there and a great show all over for me , just my opinion
