Duran Duran ever a support band?

Posted on 16.01.2006 19:34:03
I've got a teacher friend that I work with, very reliable person. Not full of shit at all. She recently told me she saw Queen "a long time ago in New York." She said she saw "Queen and Duran Duran a long time ago in concert." I've searched all over the site and I can't find anything about Queen having Duran Duran as a support act. Can anyone else think of what she's talking about? I know she is not delusional. I think Duran Duran is the reason she was at the concert, so maybe Queen was their support band??? I doubt this though. I didn't think Queen was a support band to much of anyone.

Thanks for any help!!

Nooooo, Queen have certainly never ever supported Duran Duran :-) And I VERY MUCH doubt it could have been vice versa. Almost certainly a mistake.

Maybe she is confused because Roger Taylor plays in Duran Duran? :-)

Yes, I asked her again today if she was sure she saw "Queen and Duran Duran together in concert." She said nooooo that she had seen "Duran Duran and Queen way back in the day." Which means she saw them back in the early 80s. She also said she's got concert t-shirts and buttons/pins from every concert she went to!!! *drool" Most of the concerts she went to were Kiss concerts though she told me. I told her I'd buy the Queen merchandise from her. I have no idea what to offer her though to be honest!! Any suggestions on what would be fair?

Also, I was under the impression that Queen only played Cincinnati one time, in 82'. I see on your site that they played Cincinnati in 78' as well? I'll be using the all-in-one filter to search for more Cincinnati related dates to see if I missed anything.

Thanks so much for the wealth of info on here!!!
