Queen Houston 77 show

Posted on 26.12.2005 00:53:33
Hi. I'm new to the site but a Queen fan from way back. I recently got a copy of the Houston 77 show only to find out that in the middle of "39" there is an awful skip that jumps from the middle of the first verse into the middle of the second verse totally ruining the song. I contacted the guy I got this from and asked if his master was that way or not. Instead of responding with an answer, he told me to throw the old copies away and he would send new ones. About two weeks later, I get the new copies and the same defect is there. Again, I wrote and inquired (nicely) about the skip. Now, instead of any sort of response or offer I get nothing and have given up on trying to get a copy from him that doesn't have the skip. I guess I should have known this might happen as I purchased a copy of the same show on DVD from him (which I had read in a magazine was pro-shot) and got what appeared to be a multi-generation vhs copy dubbed to dvd with some of the worst flickering, streaking, etc. I have ever seen on a bootleg. I was shocked he was passing this off as excellent. Anyway, my loss, but my query is this---is there good copies of this show on cd and dvd out there and if so, is there anyone that might steer me in the direction of obtaining them? I would love to have both, but would settle for the audio version. I am set to do some trading as far as audio goes, but not video, however I would be willing to work with anyone in anyway to obtain copies of this show. If a trade isn't possible, I can do a B&P or whatever anyone is comfortable with. If any of you can help or give me suggestions, I would appreciate it. On another note, I just watched the Queen dvd from 12/24/75 last night--what a treat to see them that way and think that it was exactly 30 years ago. Merry Christmas everyone and thanks for any help anyone sends me. I can be reached directly at lastdazeofmay@hotmail.com.

Hi Marty, I just checked both my Houston '77 CD and DVD and '39 is complete on them, so without any skips. The only thing I can tell you is that I once had another audio version of Houston '77 and there I also had the awful skip during '39. However, this version was of terrible quality so I got rid of it as soon as I had obtained the version I now have (amazing quality!!!). So I think there are several versions of Houston '77 on the bootleg market and yours is not the best one...

ooh yeah... happy Xmas everyone :-)

Any suggestions where I might be able to find a good copy of it, Total Eclipse or anyone else? Lurex was kind enough to make the above post and he and I have exchanged emails but there's a bit of a language barrier and I haven't been able to decipher his email correctly.

I bought my copy on eBay. There are some very good sellers on eBay who offer all the great Queen live shows on DVD.

Yeah, I've checked eBay for it daily. Sadly, the only person offering it on there is the guy I got my copy from with the skips and he's apparently too lazy to check his product for defects before offering it for sale. Either that or he doesn't care that he's selling bad copies. I have had no luck getting any response back from him about the copy I got from him.
