Volume of Freddies piano during live shows

Posted on 14.11.2005 00:09:57
What do you think about the volume of the piano during Queen live shows?? I think it's a bit low in comparison with the vocals and the other instruments (mainly during the early shows, in the '70). Imo Brians guitar and Freddies voice are often too loud (relatively) in comparison with the volume of the piano...

Do you agree with me? Does anyone perhaps know if Freddie wanted this himself and turned down the volume of the piano himself (sometimes I see him turning a little "switch" on a little device, situated on the upper left corner of the piano). Does he adjust the piano volume like this? And if he does... WHY?? I mean, is he afraid of making mistakes (don't think so!!!) or does he think the band sounds better like this??

I play in a cover band myself and we play 3 Queen songs ourself. I play the piano (keyboard actually, cannot afford it to bring my piano to each gig =P) and I don't want my volume to be softer than the volume of the other instruments and vocals.

Please share your opinions with me...

It's low on most audience recordings we have. But on the soundboard recordings (Houston) it's OK, you can hear and fully enjoy the piano in songs like I'm In Love With My Car.

I totally agree with total eclips! But in the end it's all OK (Magic tour and that stuff...)
