Comment
The Queen gig was upstairs at Peterborough Town Hall as part of the Cloud Nine series of gigs that were held there, promoted by local DJ Steve Allen. All concertographies list this gig on December 22 but local research and newly discovered flyers have proved it took place already on August 17.

Fan stories

I was 35 at the time of the gig. The night out was organised by work collegues from RAF. The venue was not that big as I recall... with seating places... theater stage type. I remembers lots of amplifiersm, very contrasting lighting, costumes were black and white as I can remember. The frontman was walking across the stage with the microphone on the stand... Good response from the audience as I recall. The concert was 60 to 90 minutes long. I thought they were good enough to play in a larger venue and could go a long way...
This is my vague memory of the concert and if anyone could confirm or add information about the venue it would be gratefully received.
With thanks to a younger Queen fan for greater knowledge about Queen on the internet...

I am the "Dave Green" mentioned on the poster..."Heavier Soundz by..." I promoted the event which was a good event despite a lot of problems. The security was by the "Hells Angels" chapter "Iron Horse" and then another Angels chapter (Cherokee, I think) started to fight with the Horsemen... The town hall was flooded. "Someone" had turned on the fire-hoses , needless to say, the "Telegraph" had a good story on the Saturday. Octopus productions also had "evenings" at Saint Johns Hall (I think in Mayors Walk) with bands like BUDGIE and FUSION ORCHESTRA and a more "folky evening" with Dave Cartwright... I wonder if the Telegraph have the "front page" article in their archives?
